Lost Item (Earring)

I was on the 8:55 ferry on Friday. I refilled my water bottle and
believe I lost an earring enroute.
A silver hoop with etching.
I would love to have it back. Maybe you found it?

TIVFD Food Drive

The TIVFD Food Bank Drive starts December 1st, Sunday and will run to Wednesday December 18th.

We will have a box out in front of the firehall for your donations. We will bring the donations inside daily.  Food donations must not be expired

Christmas wrapping and sticky tape, ribbons, new Holiday Season cards etc. are also welcome.
Toiletries and toys are also appreciated. They must be new and not wrapped.

Top 10 food donations:

1.    Peanut Butter- High in protein and enjoyed by children and adults alike, peanut butter is the MOST requested food donation item.

2.    Canned Meats- Canned chicken is a hearty and wholesome way to add protein to a quick & easy meal! Canned tuna and salmon provide essential vitamins and omega-3 fatty acids.

3.    Canned Beans- High in fibre and protein, canned beans are a satisfying and tasty way to add some additional substance to any meal.

4.    Pasta & Pasta Sauce- Filling, wholesome, kid-approved, and easy to prepare! Pro Tip: opt for pasta sauce in cans instead of glass jars.

5.    Canned Vegetables- Veggies are always in high-demand at food banks! They have a long shelf-life, they are nutrient-rich, fibre-dense, and they are the easiest way to add a healthy option.

6.    Pantry Staples- This one often gets overlooked! Almost as important as having food, is being able to properly prepare it! Food banks are always running low on flour, sugar, spices, salt & pepper, condiments, and cooking oils!

7.    Healthy Cereal- It's often kids and seniors who eat cereal for breakfast because it's fast & simple to prepare. Food banks wind up getting a lot of the sugary stuff, but it's important for both kids and seniors to start their day with vitamins, minerals, and fibre.

8.    Healthy "After-School" Snacks- Applesauce cups, granola bars, whole-grain crackers, etc.—wholesome foods that don't need to be prepared that a hungry kid can just grab off the shelf.

9.    Baby Formula- Another high-demand item because baby formula is pricey, and not every mother is able to breastfeed. Many families get government assistance with formula, but it never hurts to have on hand.

10.                  Baby Food- Same with the formula, food banks are always happy to have some healthy options available for infants, just in case.

It is a tough season for many and all donations will help ease the burden many families have in choosing between food and some festive gifts for loved ones.

ThINC at the Christmas Market

Hello Thetis Islanders!

ThINC will have a table at the Christmas Market this Saturday, where we'll be selling our 'Hot off the Press' ThINC logo tshirts for kids and youth, and very cute onesies for infants, with a variety of sizes and colours in-stock! We'll also have among our offerings, beautiful nature-inspired cards by Marcie Welsh, fun magnets and buttons by Keya Welsh, our ever popular sea life coloring books, and ThINC adult tshirts (available to order),

Come by our table to renew or purchase an early-bird membership for the 2025 year. This year, we're simplifying the membership options and are offering only an annual membership: $25 per adult and $50 for a couple or family. Your membership supports our nature education, stewardship and community science programs and includes a subscription to our newsletter, The Ripple; voting privileges at our AGM; and a place on our email list for notices about upcoming events. We're already planning our 2025 summer Nature House program where everyone is welcome!

Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to seeing you at the market!

ThINC Team
