What's fresh @ Jollity Farm?

Open Saturday 10-1

This week:
- kale
- beets
- leeks
- radish
- rhubarb
- spinach
- parsley
- free range eggs

Due to concerns about possible drought conditions this year, we won't have our usual supply of 2" & 4" annuals at the farm this year. Instead we will focus on providing beautiful, healthy and unique perennials. New varieties at the farm this weekend!

We have tree water bags available, if you are planting shrubs and trees
this spring.

With thanks,

Jollity Farmers

Trail Use Reminder

Tuesday afternoon, a walker found signs of inappropriate trail use on the Lawrence Community Trail - ruts from a dirt bike, a log which had been chopped by an axe and an engine part with cloth plugs adjacent to it.

No wheeled vehicles are permitted on any of the trails because the trail beds are not constructed for wheeled vehicles.

Trails are to be left in their natural condition, except when work is carried out by trail committee members. And anything not belonging on a trail should, of course, be taken back out.

Our walking trails are there through the generosity of property owners whose land they are on, and we must respect the guidelines posted at each trail.

Electrical Safety for Homeowners

April 17th 7:15pm to 9:15pm Forbes Hall

According to Health Canada, 1/3 of carbon monoxide poisoning events are due to generators . There are also many dangers due to faulty or improper connections to the household electrical system. Downed powerlines are of course a danger, but the danger is more than just the live wire, the electrical charge extends to the ground.

The Forbes Hall Health Services Group has arranged to have Tom Nezil come over to give a talk on electrical safety for homeowners. This talk is part of a program sponsored by BC Hydro. Tom does an annual presentation to local firefighters (including TIVFD).
Tom Nezil is a retired BC Hydro power line tech/lineman (worked frequently on Thetis Island) and will focus on the safety issues around power outages from the range of dangers surrounding lines down to safe operation of emergency generators.
