The TIVFD Structure Protection Unit (SPU) Auxiliary is already Gearing Up for this Summer’s Wildfire Season.

Now is a good time for you to also get prepared, by safely clearing off your roof, and cleaning out gutters. In the event of a wildfire, embers can be blown downwind and easily ignite dry leaves, needles, cones and other debris in gutters and on your roof. Clean gutters also help to reduce mosquito breeding habitat.

The following link includes 7 quick tips to FireSmart your property this spring. https://firesmartbc.ca/7-tips-to-firesmart-your-property-this-spring/

A number of residents have already had a FireSmart assessment completed for their home and property, You can apply for a free HPP FireSmart home assessment with property-specific recommendations on how to mitigate wildfire risk for your home.

Islands 2050

On May 30, 2024, Islands Trust trustees will be participating in a Committee of the Whole virtual meeting to review the updated draft of the Policy Statement.

The meeting will be open to the public to watch and listen. The agenda package and meeting details are available https://islandstrust.bc.ca/event/trust-council-committee-of-the-whole/

Additional Committee of the Whole meetings may be scheduled after the May 30, 2024 meeting.

The Committee of the Whole will contemplate providing recommendations to Trust Council on changes to the staff-prepared draft and the next steps for the project. Trust Council will then hold a meeting during which they could consider the recommendations, and direct changes to the draft.

Public engagement on the updated draft Policy Statement will begin after Trust Council approves the document in principle. Trustees will consider public feedback on the draft and could recommend more changes to the draft document.

Learn more about the Policy Statement Amendment Project:
https://islandstrust.bc.ca/programs/islands-2050/

Thank you to all who shared comments and ideas on the previous draft Islands Trust Policy Statement in 2021. You are encouraged to provide input once the public engagement period begins.

Hi all, my wife and I moved to Thetis Island last year.

We ran an electrical contracting business for around 25 years; so I gained a broad range of experience over the years.

If you have an electrical project such as a light fitting or a receptacle outlet to be installed, an appliance connected or disconnected, I may be able to help you.
