Friday, June 19, 2026 at 7:44AM We are looking for an adult bicycle suitable for a person that is over six feet tall.
Our grandson is visiting for the summer and would like a bicycle to get to and from Overbury to Telegraph Marina where he is working.
We would prefer to rent the bike but will also consider buying the right one.

Friday, June 19, 2026 at 7:19AM Good morning, brave ladies.
It's me again.
I've only got a couple more weekends before I'll be off swimming on other shores besides Thetis Island. So if you've been wanting to do this, now is your opportunity.
The water is really warming up, but it's still just cool enough to give you that oh-so-good feeling.
This week, we'll meet
Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
at the end of Porlier Road, just off Pilkey Point Road.
Fun fact: Laughter, friendship, and regular social connection are some of the strongest predictors of health and longevity for women. Apparently gathering by the ocean checks a lot of boxes.
This is a relaxed, low-pressure women's gathering — come sip your tea, breathe the ocean air, dip, swim, paddle, float, or simply be.
Wetsuit, bathing suit, or birthday suit, all welcome.
Come exactly as you are.
A little ocean time, a little connection, a little courage — that's all this is.
Hope to see you there — even if it's just toes in the water.
Warmly,
Elite 250-533-9347

Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 7:54AM Hello Community,
Here is your second early warning to plan for your entry into the THETIS ISLAND COMMUNITY PARADE on August 29th. We may not be big, but we can definitely be flashy. (All bicycle and motorized scooter entries must wear a helmet.)
The Fire Department will be holding a draw of artwork in early August for a Chief for a Day child to ride at the front of the parade in the brand new Engine1.
It’s the usual (short) parade route from Mission Road, down the big hill, around Marina Drive, back up the big hill and back to Mission Road. We will muster just after 10:30 and start at 11 a.m. If you have a car etc., please ensure you have fuel in it…don’t laugh, that’s happened before.
The COMMUNITY PARADE was started by Gwen Hunter and has carried on every few years in her memory, organized by the fire department. It’s also a lot of fun to watch, so get your deck chairs ready. 75 days left until AUGUST 29, SATURDAY.

Thursday, June 18, 2026 at 7:52AM July is just around the corner, and with it comes another exciting season of programs at the Nature House!
We're pleased to announce the first event in our summer Sensational Sunday Speaker Series (S4): Shared Waters, Shared Crisis - a special film screening and Q&A with Misty MacDuffee of the Raincoast Conservation Foundation on Sunday, July 5 at 2PM.
The documentary explores the vital connections between wild salmon, Southern Resident killer whales, and the ecosystems of the Salish Sea, highlighting inspiring conservation efforts taking place across the Canada–US border. Following the screening, Misty MacDuffee, a conservation biologist and Director of Raincoast's Wild Salmon Program, will join us for a discussion and audience Q&A.
Watch the trailer here: https://vimeo.com/1050633918?fl=pl&fe=sh
More details, including the event poster, can be found on our website: https://www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/single-post/s4-shared-waters-shared-crisis-documentary-screening-and-q-a
Keep an eye on eSPOKES and our website in the coming weeks for the July Nature House calendar of events and the full S4 speaker lineup.
We look forward to seeing you this summer!
