Pharma Pick-up in Chemainus on Friday

Hi--Might someone be able to pick-up my medications (already charged to my store account) at the Chemainus, Esplanade St. Rexall (across from Health Center); open Friday from 8:30-4:30)?

I can meet any ferry you return on to Thetis.

Post Office Friday Mar 8/24

The Mail will be coming in on the 0900 ferry every Friday from here forward. Monday to Thursday the mail will be coming in at 1100.

The Post Office will not be open Saturday due to the scheduled power outage. I will be picking the mail up from the ferry on Friday March 8 and try and have ALL of the mail up in the boxes before noon.

If you come in on Saturday regularly to get your mail it should be available by Friday afternoon after lunch. I will be sorting and bouncing back and forth between the boxes and the PO during the morning.

Saturday, March 9th Planned Power Outage: Forbes Hall Open 10 am until 4 pm

Forbes Hall’s doors will be open on Saturday, March 9th from 10 am until 4 pm during BC Hydro’s planned power outage (will close earlier if the power returns early).

Volunteers will be there to welcome you. Make use of the different rooms to get some work done on your laptops, read, visit with neighbours, do puzzles, play cards, etc.

In addition to hot beverages and snacks, there will be soup available 11:30-2:00, with hot dogs and fixings available, too. There may even be some home baked treats! Food and beverages by donation.

So, take a break from the day without power, and meet us at the hall for some light, warmth, and cheer!

Reminder: It’s time to renew your TICA & TIRRA memberships!

The TICA/TIRRA Membership 2024 form was sent out at the beginning of Feb to all TICA and /or TIRRA members. Everyone has been busy, so renewing your membership may have slipped your mind. It’s important that you renew this month as your 2023 memberships expire on March 31.

Attached is a membership form for your convenience. Membership fees may be paid through e-transfer to deposit@forbeshall.ca or by cheque to TICA, Box 140, Thetis Island, BC, V0R 2Y0. 

Note: if you renew by e-transfer please indicate on your transfer that it is for membership. Also, please submit the completed membership form by email or post so we can keep our membership lists current.

Health Services: Nurse Practitioner Scheduling Update

Nurse Practitioner Erin VanWieren will be away March 11 – March 21.

Note: In Erin’s absence Brittany Morrison, NP will be providing coverage but will not be seeing patients in-person on Thetis Island.

There will be virtual and telephone appointments available Tuesday March 12th, 14th and 19th. No appointments will be scheduled for March 21st.

The process to book appointments will remain the same.

Clinical Office Assistant Kari will be in their Ladysmith office during their regular office hours and can be reached by phone or email Monday to Thursday 8:30am – 4:30pm through this period.

Health Talk at Forbes Hall - Slips and Falls

March 20th 10am Forbes Hall

Falls remain the leading cause of injury-related hospitalizations among Canadian seniors Between 20% and 30% of seniors fall each year. Falls and associated outcomes not only harm the injured individuals but also affect family, friends, care providers and the health care system.

On March 20th Community Paramedic, Vinh Pham, will provide a talk on slips and falls. He will cover the major causes as well as what can be done to prevent them from happening.
