Pickup Request: Old-fashioned Wringer Washer

Dear Fellow Islanders,

A friend in Vancouver has offered me an old-fashioned wringer washer, which I've dreamed of having for a long time.

If anyone with a small truck or SUV is traveling to the Vancouver area in the next few weeks, would you be able to pick it up for me? I would really appreciate the help and will gladly cover your gas expenses.

Soup's On Meeting

Capernwray Students- Ferry Traffic Sept 18th

On Friday September 18th, Capernwray Harbour will be welcoming 85 students, along with their family members. They will be travelling to and from Thetis between the 8:20am and the 5:20pm ferry sailings.

Our students will also be travelling to Chemainus each Sunday morning to attend local churches, particularly affecting the 7:45am and 9:00am ferries, beginning September 27th.

We are excited to begin another year of Bible School and want to keep you, our community, well-informed throughout the year. Thank you for your kind understanding and please feel free to reach out to the Main Office if you have any questions.

European Praying Mantis – Lawrence Valley

A mating pair of European Praying Mantis was spotted on the board walk of the Lawrence Valley Trail on Saturday. They were beautiful and exciting to see.

However, they are non-native (introduced), and you are welcome to stomp them out of existence. The valley is incredibly important to both native birds and insects, and we don’t need a Genghis Kahn in their midst.

Suspicious Activity near Pilkey Point

Observed individual(s) in small power boat with no running lights and a powerful search lights in the middle of the night scoping out my property from the water.

When I turned my outside light on and went out on the deck they killed their light and took off. I did not get a good look at the individual(s) or the boat.

Pilkey Point area on eastern side.

Be vigilant and keep an eye out for your neighbours who may be seasonal residents.

MODERATE Fire Rating (Finally!)

It has been a tense several weeks re: the Fire Hazard Rating. And with several lightning strikes during that intense storm, we have been lucky to (so far) not have any zombie fires pop up from underground roots.

The Coastal Fire Centre has dropped our area to MODERATE fire hazard. Time restrictions for High Hazard Activities are no longer in effect.

Please keep up the great job of staying fire safe.
