Jollity Farm Weekly Order Reminders

We are doing a True Grain Bakery run this week if you'd like to place an order for pick up at market this Saturday.

All dairy and bread orders are due by Monday evening. You can order using our form here: https://www.jollityfarm.ca/order-form

The produce list has not been updated yet, but our farmers will give me the fresh list soon and any of those requests can come in up to Friday evening.

Organic strawberries are slowing down. If you are interested in ordering a full flat to get more fruit in your freezer, let us know and we'll see what kind of deals we can come up with. Similar for corn... if you'd like a sack just let us know and we can pick up this week.

Organic blueberries order update - we are scheduled to pick up on Monday, Sept 14 so we'll be reaching out to folks who have ordered to arrange for pick up.

Quarterly News and Ideas

Carol Sowerby will be retiring as Quarterly editor following the December 2026 issue. This has led the TICA Board to discuss the future of the 36-year-old Quarterly.

After fulsome discussions, TICA feels the time is ripe to explore the magazine’s role within the Thetis community and, with community support, possibly start afresh with a new publication format.

How to start fresh? TICA will hold a gathering for community members who value an island-based publication, enjoy the stories islanders share, and are interested in the people, events and everyday life of our island community. By gathering, we can brainstorm, share ideas and explore a publication format that could be a great fit for our community.

If you are interested in seeing the continuation of an island publication and have ideas to share, please plan to attend an afternoon get-together at Forbes Hall on Saturday, September 12th at 2 pm, facilitated by the Thetis Island Community Association. Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided.

We will be connected through Google Meets if you’re wanting to join us remotely. If you’d like to send us ideas ahead of time, please send to: info@forbeshall.ca

Wildfire Smoke and Masks

There are unfortunately still several weeks of wildfire and possible poor air quality days left in the season. Remember to keep an eye on the air quality and avoid strenuous activities outdoors when the air is poor.

If anyone wishes to use an N95 mask during this time please take one or two from the box by the front door of the Firehall on Mission Road. These masks were obtained by the Forbes Hall Health Services Group when the Red Cross offered free masks to communities to use when the air quality is poor.

Thetis Island Marina Resort

MLA Debra Toporowski Unfortunately Unable to Attend on Saturday

Debra Toporowski had planned to participate in the parade, the Howling Wolf Market and meet with Islanders at Forbes Hall. I regret to announce this cancellation.

Following the passing of MLA Joan Phillip today (Friday), Premier David Eby instructed all party MLAs to stand down from any public functions out of respect for MLA Phillip. Debra also had a personal friendship with MLA Phillip and worked closely with her in the Legislature.

Pam Cooling, Debra's legislative assistant, assured me that they will make rescheduling this visit a priority.
