Soup’s On: Cancelled for Wednesday, March 27th

Our sincerest apologies, due to medical reasons Soup’s On is cancelled for Wednesday, March 27th.

The final two Soup’s On days for Spring 2024 are April 3rd and April 10th.

It is unusual that we could not find a replacement as we have a truly dedicated group of cooks, and we thank them for their tremendous dedication to this program.

Thanks to all the wonderful islanders for their incredible continuing support for so many years, and we’ll see you in April!

Vessels and a Broom

Hello Islanders!

The Hobbit playhouse, now a sanctuary, yearns for vessels to complement Athenia's herbal concoctions. Seeking pottery, earthenware, old wood canisters, and humble vessels—cracked, lidless, or simply forgotten. Athenia's boundless creativity will fill these treasures, transforming them into vessels fit for brewing, storing, and serving her concoctions.

Also looking for a corn broom, the unsung hero of post-mess cleanup. It can be way past its prime, just need enough whisk left to keep Athenia's haven slightly swept.

So, dear friends and neighbors, rummage through your abodes for these treasures, no vessel is too lowly. In Athenia's hands, they'll discover newfound purpose, infusing her Hobbit house with an earthy charm that warms the heart. No plastic or glass as we want this special space to be entirely earth friendly and safe for children to play.
Join the adventure and support Athenia's passion for the earth and all things herbal!

Also still looking for an old-style mechanical tile cutter to use today.

Thank you all

Lawrence Valley Loop Trail

Now that flooding has subsided, the bottom portion of this trail is once again open. The big planks which had been moved off their supports by the water still need to be replaced, so caution should be exercised until this has been rectified.

No more Saturday Yoga

I think I've had to cancel more often than I've been able to teach class in the last couple months. With travel commitments starting to stack up for the spring and summer, I'm going to pause the Saturday yoga classes for now (unless another instructor wants to lead the class?!).

I hope to revive the sessions again in the early fall and maybe we can do some 1-offs this spring and summer!

Thanks to everyone who came out and joined our little yoga community at the hall!

More Treasures at My Free Store

Thanks again fellow islanders.

Keep on helping yourselves to my former treasures.
Today I added a 3-drawer filing cabinet, some trailer hitches, both 2" and 1and seven eighths. More dishes, cutlery and pots/pans, a brand-new bra for a GM truck, a transfer pump for oil from an inboard/outboard...too much to list.

Gracias,

Donovan

PS The radial arm saw is now free. If you can't pick it up, I can deliver it to you for a very nominal charge.

The Thetis Island Improvement District will be holding its Annual General Meeting on Saturday, May 4th, 2024 at 11 AM at Forbes Hall Community Centre

The purpose of this public meeting is to receive the audited financial statements for 2023, report on the operations of the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department, the Improvement District, and any other items of business that may arise.

This year, two (2) trustees positions are up for election. These positions are three (3) year terms

---

The role of trustees:

Trustees must make decisions to ensure that adequate funds are available to maintain current operations and to replace capital infrastructure as it ages.

Furthermore, trustees must establish reserve funds (capital) and those funds can only be used for the specific purpose for which the fund was established.

Prepare financial statements according to GAAP and appoint an auditor.

---

If anyone is interested in running for one of these Trustee positions, please contact the Corporate Administrative Officer Anne-Marie Koeppen by 12:00 Noon, Friday, April 5th, 2024, at: gotoannemarie@hotmail.com

Interested individuals must complete a nomination form, which can be obtained from Anne-Marie and submit it by the deadline specified. The nomination form is to be signed by two nominators.

To be eligible to vote at an Improvement District election and run for the board of trustees, individuals must be a Canadian citizen, 18 years of age or older, a resident of BC for at least six months prior to the vote, and own land in the Improvement District.

If required, an advance Trustee election voting opportunity will be available on Saturday, April 20th, 2024

10:00 AM - 12:00 Noon at Forbes Hall.

If required, trustee election voting will also take place on Saturday, May 4th, 2024

10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the AGM.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
