Calling all Knitters! Seeking Donations of Toques & Gloves

Over here at our Chemainus farm shop we are connecting with the locals
and learning about positive ways we can interact with our new community.

There is a need for new or gently used toques and gloves (fingerless
ones are very helpful) for folks who are living around town and need
some extra layers to keep warm.

We will set up a drop off station at the Jollity Farm Shop & Cafe in
Chemainus and Harvest House will collect and distribute. We are happy to
collect any items you may wish to share from our Kiosk or weekly
Saturday market on Thetis as well.

With thanks!

New Poles along Pilkey Point Road on Moore Hill

At the Telus sponsored PureFibre Virtual Meeting on Tuesday November 7th Telus confirmed that the utility poles along roadways are jointly owned by BC Hydro and Telus. They indicated that the new poles along Pilkey Point Road are likely being installed at their request for installation of the PureFibre network to all residents on Thetis Island. The PureFibre network replaces the existing Telus telephone service and internet service, where currently available. It enables all Thetis islanders to subscribe to high-speed internet as well as other services offered by Telus.

Remembrance Day Nov. 11th, Saturday

The community is invited to gather at the flag pole outside at Forbes Hall a few minutes before 11 am (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month) for our National act of remembrance.

Remembrance Day was originally called Armistice Day and marked the end of the hostilities of World War I, but in modern times we also remember those who served and died in WWII, Korea, and Peace Keeping forces in Africa, Europe, and the Middle East, and their wartime sacrifices.

Following the lowering of the flag and Last Post, we will gather in the main hall at Forbes for a 4 minute video and sharing of remembrances.

The TIVFD will erect a couple of pop-up shelters for the inevitable rain on Saturday morning.
