In our first issue of the new year, Ann Eriksson and Gary Geddes share their experience as landowners in the soon-to-be launched Nature Stewards Program and Sahir Advani provides insight into ThINC's Forage Fish Program - what it is, how it works, and why it is important to learn more about these little fish.

Looking for a sturdy wheelbarrow or a replacement tire for my old wheelbarrow.
Please text Jesse at 250-588-3369.
The Forbes Hall Community Centre Garden Committee encourages everyone to have a look at the gardens around the hall as they come to life this Spring.
We especially want to thank Emily McIvor for donating her expertise and time to the development of the garden design. Emily has drawn on years of experience in landscaping, garden design and maintenance to arrive at a design that will be attractive throughout the seasons and responds to our need for deer resistant, drought tolerant plants. Emily is available to talk to people about her plant selections and the design process.
We thank Don Sinclair and Teresa Moore for securing funding from New Horizons, Ron Bannister for his expert help, Carolyn Askew and many volunteers who have assisted thus far in the creation of the gardens.
Tuesday and Thursday mornings 9:15 to 10:15 Forbes Hall. All abilities welcome. Sore knees? No problem, do exercises seated in a chair. Bring mat and weights if you have them, they are also available at the hall.
Hope to see you there.

Like our beloved PAG (People's Apothecary Garden), things have been quieter at ThINC this winter - but not completely dormant! We are revving up for another full year of nature education, community science, and food security and stewardship activities. If you are not already a member, consider joining us this year!
Membership is a way of showing your support and helps you connect with other like-minded community members. Members elect our board of directors, and fees help support the range of stewardship and nature education activities ThINC is engaged in.
To renew your membership or become a new member and/or a Friend of the Nature House for 2023, valid January - December, download and complete the following PDF form and mail it to: PO Box 13-3, Thetis Island, V0R 2Y0
or email it to: info@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org
Membership form: www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/_files/ugd/a5ed41_67fc506d7588444a9f89dc86f89ef244.pdf
Furthermore - if you are interested in other ways to be involved with ThINC and nature stewardship on Thetis, consider volunteering for one (or more) of our programs: Nature House, People's Apothecary Garden, Community Bat program, Owl Box program, Shoreline monitoring/marine program, Nature Reserve maintenance, Nature Reserve warden, Restoration (invasive plant removal, etc), and Fundraising.
If any of these pique your interest, feel free to get in touch with Charlotte at charlotte@thetisislandnatureconservancy.org or peruse our website: www.thetisislandnatureconservancy.org/
Warm regards,
The ThINC Team
