The Thetis Island Conservancy will be joining us this Saturday to talk about composting. Former Thetis Islander Jacob Frankel will be there to answer any questions you may have.

We are getting ready for another delivery (or two) of organic fish compost from Earthbank. It's already time to think about top dressing gardens for winter and their stock is running low, so we are getting our reservation in early.

Cost will be the same as the spring: $110/yard
Pick up at Jollity Farm or we can help organize a dumping trailer for larger loads.

Internet Performance Test

Economic Development Cowichan is embarking on a project to better understand the state of internet connectivity in Cowichan, so that we can create a strategy to meet the connectivity needs of the region long into the future. With more and more essential services and business and community activities moving online since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, it has never been more important to ensure that everyone has access to the benefits that connectivity has to offer. 

Today, we are introducing the Internet Performance Test (IPT), a tool that will help us monitor internet speed and quality across the region. Armed with this information, we will seek to identify areas of concern and unlock funding sources to improve connectivity in those areas. In order to build the most complete picture of the current state of internet connectivity in Cowichan, we need as many people as possible to perform internet speed tests from their home and/or workplace. I encourage you all to take the test!

Hi Thetis Island residents! 

If you haven't done so, please take some time to fill out our short community composting survey. We want to hear from you! Adding your voice will help us understand the composting habits of our residents and the interest in a community composting initiative. ThINC is looking to see if anyone in the community is interested in sharing how they go about composting, whether that be via a digester, 3 bins, vermiculture, or hugelkultur. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is interested in sharing their composting secrets with the community! As well, we are hoping to see if there are any community experts who would be willing to work with the ThINCPOD to facilitate a composting workshop later on in the summer. ThINCPod feels it's important for community members to share their expertise as Thetis is a unique space with special characteristics, and what works in Albuquerque might not work here!
