Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 12:07PM In the years visiting Thetis Isl., then living here for a long time, I have noticed cigarette butts everywhere.
This includes dog excrement.
Wrappers strewn here and there.
I do not understand that concept to 'just throw litter,' including cans, bottles, anywhere.
Butts are litter and dangerous at that. If I had counted them during my walks,
I believe I would have a huge bag to dump, plus many more.
I would love people to refrain from throwing out their garbage from vehicles or when walking.
Also, I wish that dog owners would be so kind and considerate to have their dogs kept in their yards, or on a leash while walking.
It is most frustrating when a dog jumps into my yard and barks at me, or scares the heck out of me! It has happened time and again. The rules in the city for dogs is also the same here.
I have asked time and again to please have your pet on a leash, or in a fenced in area in their yard. This way deer will not be chased across properties or on road.
It would be most pleasing if we all followed rules of etiquette.
I appreciate David Green’s comments on espokes this morning.
Thank you, Dave.

Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at 9:18AM To the person or persons who feel it is okay to strew cigarette butts (more than 20 of them) along the west margin of Pilkey Point Road near the junction with Porlier Road.
Put simply, it is not okay. Not if they are tossed out of a car; nor if they are from person(s) doing some progressive smoking.
Several reasons not to do this: it is illegal; it is an extreme fire hazard; it is boorish!
Use your brains — should you have any!

Monday, August 17, 2020 at 9:30AM Thetis Islanders recently received a comprehensive package from TICA regarding status of the Forbes Hall build. This package also provided information on how to donate or pledge to the project and asked for your response by Thursday, August 20th.
The current momentum at the Hall is impressive thanks to the effort of Poirier Custom Homes, the construction crew and many volunteers who would all like to see this ambitious project through to completion. Please consider making your donation or pledge this week, to help with planning so the construction can continue.
For information on ways to donate go to: http://www.thetisisland.net/tica/index.html
Thank you to all those who have donated, your contributions are creating an enlivening, vibrant and welcoming Forbes Hall that will available and accessible to all islanders.

Monday, August 17, 2020 at 9:28AM Hello Yogis,
Starting this week, I am officially changing Monday night yoga-on-the-lawn to Tuesdays for the rest of the summer!
Since the pub is closed on Tuesdays, Ryan can always be available to hang out with Henley so I won't have to juggle childcare!
See you tomorrow at 6pm for an all-levels class on the lawn at 297 Mission Road (accessed from North Cove).
