Heartfelt Thank You

David and I have found a place to move our RV to continue our stay on Thetis island.

A heartfelt “thank you“ to all who had a part in it.

I will have a Garden again soon.

With gratitude,

David and Liz

Recent Break and Enter

The Capernwray Harbour Pump House was broken into the night before last. The perpetrators stole cash and food. In case the offender is reading. Please note there is no longer cash on premises and there are live feed cameras.  A police report has been filed and information passed to the authorities.  This is most disappointing to say the least. Let’s look out for one another. Report suspicious activity.

Thank you.

Thank You!

The fire department, on behalf of the community, wishes to thank Joe Lange (Emcon) for his timely and much appreciated assistance in positioning a new TIVFD water storage tank on Plateau Road.

This tank stores 5600 imperial gallons and will help with fire suppression needs in the Porlier and Plateau Roads neighbourhood.  Joe appeared in the right place at the right time and with equipment to help move and erect the tank.  Thanks also to Sven Aaberg, James Alton, Dave Tarris and Graeme Shelford for originally volunteering on this project.  We soon realized that Joe and his equipment would save a lot of sore muscles for us.

The TIVFD Water Auxiliary will be making several trips over the next ten days to fill it, once the fittings are installed.  Heather Ney and family donated the gravel to bed in the tank.

Again, thank you Joe and the Neys and you others for your great community spirit.

Fire Chief J. Caldbeck

Lawrence Valley Trail - Irish Lady's Tresses Orchid

As you traverse the valley, keep your eyes open for these lovely little flower spikes.  They resemble a grass seed head, and the stalks are about 12” high.

Although fairly common in wild bogs, swamps and lowlands, and occur throughout most of temperate North America and the British Isles, we have never seen them in our 40 years on the farm. This is most likely due to a cooler spring, and less cattle grazing.  I counted 8 yesterday, but do keep a look out, they’re very pretty.
