Friday, May 1, 2020 at 9:55AM SYNOPSIS: Thursday morning most areas still see some showers or a chance of them, with sunny breaks then developing to give more variable cloud through the day as a weak upper ridge moves over the region. Amounts are showing a lot of variability over the Fire Centre, with some areas seeing light amounts but the potential for amounts exceeding 20mm in upslope/onshore areas. Temperatures remain very near the seasonal mark.
OUTLOOK (Friday - Sunday): Friday sees the remainder of the ridge moving through, continuing variable cloud through most of the Fire Centre with drier conditions again, however with lingering cloud and temperatures still around the seasonal mark humidity values aren’t expected to be excessively dry.

Friday, May 1, 2020 at 9:54AM The Vancouver Island 3D printing group has a grassroots initiative making face shields to protect health care workers in over 50 facilities. They are running low on the clear plastic used in these shields and are looking for donations of clear overhead transparency sheets. They need to be clear, without a coating on one side.
If you have any to donate please contact Carol at 250-246-3699 or drop them at the post office. I will arrange to get them to the group.

Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at 2:54PM Important Links for those suffering from depression during this time
Various reliable medical/health authorities are noting the possibility of Covid-19 associated rises in depression and suicides, especially among the elderly (see link below for info recently published in Lancet Psychiatry).
To mitigate this risk in our communities, it can be helpful to provide info on resources specific to mental health assistance.
If you have the space, perhaps you could encourage anyone feeling lonely, disconnected, depressed, or anxious to reach out, and you could include the relevant links (given below) so they know who to contact.
Stay safe and healthy, and Thank you for keeping us electronically in touch with each other every day!
