Thursday, December 19, 2019 at 10:18PM I am sure none of us on Thetis will ever forget the storm of December 20th, 2018. I am reminded of it every time I drive down our driveway as I see the dozens of downed trees and uprooted stumps.
At the first site of the devastation I have to admit I shed a tear, but now even though I can still see evidence of the storm, it reminds me of the meaning of neighbourhood. It is not just a "geographically localized community" we have here on Thetis, it is a collective of caring and giving people that don't even blink an eye to offer up assistance. People that pull together and work hard to make things right. I applaud all of you that stepped up to help a neighbour on that day and the many days following.

I am looking for a small fridge to buy, as the fridge I have is not big enough.
If anyone has one that is reasonable price and in good shape please contact me.
Thank you and Merry Christmas

Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 10:51PM Be aware BC Hydro scam caller to get your credit card details
Someone called today saying he was from BC Hydro and that he had a work order for my address this afternoon. I said, "Are you sure?" and he confirmed my address. I then enquired about the work to be done and he replied that I had been given two shut off notices. I laughed and hung up, but this could be very scary at this time of year for anyone who hadn’t paid their recent bill, or thought their billing was incorrect. Apparently this scam has been around for a long time, but I’d never heard about it.

Tuesday, December 17, 2019 at 10:44PM Our TIVFD Auxiliary were champions on Sunday when they came out with cocoa, coffee and goodies during a five hour “hydro lines down” response on North Cove Road. We really appreciated Merry and Nan’s support in the cold. We don’t call on the TIVFD Auxiliary very often, but when we do we can always count on them. (If you are interested in joining Merry Gooding’s team, please contact her. ) Thank you Auxiliary!
