For those with Farm Animals: Beware Dogs Running + New Comment

Thursday (Aug 29), 11:20am, two dogs were running a deer through the Hunter=

property at North Cove.

Here is a clear picture of one of them (apparently wearing a harness?)

Very often other animals or fowl are next.

If you know the owners perhaps you could have a word with them.

A dog very similar to the one in the photo was going after the cows at Capernwray a couple of days ago.  It was hard for the owners to get it back.  If it is the same dog, the owners were walking it and another smaller dog near the ferry.  I haven't seen them before, I suspected they were visitors, so not sure if they will receive espokes or thetisposts.  Perhaps this could be posted by the ferry?  Their dog was very aggressive, and they had little control of it, even though it was on leash.  I thought maybe it is a young dog and/or new to them. Just some thoughts,

Kelly Bannister

Summer Market 10-1 Saturday August 31st.

The last market of the summer is this Saturday August 31st. 10-1pm

On this last day of our Summer Market we will have some free stuff as well as some Sale Items

Our fellow vendor Dee Smith has left an assortment of frames and glass along with an assortment of goodies to give away.

Cowichan Knitters are returning this weekend.

If you have any questions about the community hall build now is your chance to ask questions this Saturday at the market.

The Summer Market has grown all in thanks to Chris and Marylyn Pegg for allowing us to set up camp at their place.

See you this Saturday

Extreme Fire Hazard Returns

It will come as no surprise to you that we have moved back up to EXTREME Fire Hazard.  Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week you can still carry on High Risk Activities (mowing, trenching, chain saws, gas powered motors etc.) only on “early shift” from dawn until 11:00 a.m. but then you must cease and post a two hour fire watch.

Always have water and a shovel ready at your work site.  All High Risk Activities are banned from Friday, August 30th onwards, until we drop down to HIGH or MODERATE Fire Hazard again.

Thank you for your continuing community cooperation in keeping our island safe and fire-free.
