Community Paramedicine

"Community paramedicine in BC is intended primarily for older patients living with chronic conditions such as heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and diabetes, or who are at risk of falls."
The great news is that as of this month, a Community Paramedic is being allowed to serve Thetis Island on a monthly or bi-weekly basis. Normally you must be referred for the service by your physician, but you can meet our Community Paramedic, Georgia Nelson, on Wednesday, November 28th at her Blood Pressure/Blood Glucose clinic at the Library during Soups On. You can speak with her directly about the program and get on her client list. We will assure your privacy when you get your BP or sugar test by allowing only one person at a time into the Library to see Georgia.
While you wait for your turn, have a great $5. lunch in the big room. Georgia will be available from 11:15 until 12:45 pm.

Dive In! ~ Book Launch and Marine Slideshow ~ November 25th

On Sunday, Nov 25, from 2-4 pm, join Ann Eriksson, Andy Lamb and Suzanne Sarioglu at Forbes Hall to celebrate the launch of Dive In!, Ann's new non-fiction book for children.
The book is for children but the message (and the celebration) is for everyone. Dive In! explores our intimate connection with the ocean and provides every reader with an achievable set of actions that can help improve ocean health for our sake and the sake of the millions of marine plants and animals that share the planet with us. Several Thetis Islanders make appearances in the book.
During the celebration, Andy Lamb will be showing his beautiful underwater slides and talking about Marine Protected Areas, the most effective way to improve ocean health. Suzanne will tell us all about the initiative to create a Marine Protected Area in the Salish Sea, including the waters around Thetis Island.
This is a family-friendly event with something for everyone of all ages. Ocean-themed refreshments will be served. Signed copies of Dive In! will be available for purchase.
This event is sponsored by the Thetis Island Library. Come join us and learn what you can do in your own life to "be kind to the ocean, it connects us all."
