Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 10:23AM We are in need of a FRAMED back pack that could be modified to carry a small fire pump in the bush. A “Trapper Nelson” would work great (if you’re old enough to have one out in the back shed collecting mice nests) but a modern aluminum frame would also work.
If you have one you would consider donating, please contact chief11@telus.net. Thanks!

Thanks!

Saturday, August 17, 2019 at 10:07AM Forbes Hall Expansion & Upgrade Project
You are invited to our “On the Court” Information session - Saturday, August 17th.
The Directors of the Thetis Island Community Association and the Members of the Forbes Hall Expansion Committee invite you to this Saturday’s “On the Court” Information session. We look forward to having the opportunity to meet with you, and bring you up to date on the project, and funding. It has been quite an undertaking from the first donation to this project in October 2016, to now, with footings in place, and the original building with its renovations well underway.
We want the community to know what is happening behind the gates & fencing; our “On the Court” sessions create a gathering where we are able share with you all we know about the project, and in turn, you will be able to share your new knowledge within the broader community. We are ready to answer your questions, and listen to your comments.
Our objective is to inform, answer, and inspire.
Saturday, August 17th from 5:00 - 6:30 at the Tennis Court (access via the Pathway on Mission Road - no access through the building zone) - Beverages & Snacks Provided.
If you are unable to attend this session, we are available to meet with you individually if it is more amenable to you. Just let me know by emailing dickie.ann@gmail.com
Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday,
Sincerely
Ann Dickie
on behalf of the Thetis Island Community Association & the Forbes Hall Expansion & Upgrade Committee

Friday, August 16, 2019 at 10:49PM Well it is getting close to back to school time!
We are hoping to have our wonderful community listeners coming back to TIES this school year. We would also like to invite any other community members that are interested in coming to listen to our TIES students read. If you are away for part of the year or have appointments on the day that you listen, that is just fine. We know that you all have busy lives and we really appreciate all your help. The listening time would be from 12:35 to 1:05 daily. You just pick a day that suits you. If you are interested in being a volunteer listener at the school, please contact me by email at gredman@sd79.bc.ca
Last year we asked for fruit so that we could process it by canning or dehydrating it. We raised over $400.00 and half of these funds were donated to a local charity. The remainder of the funds will be used for the students to decide on something special for the classroom. We would like to do the same thing again this year. Last year we had a lot of fruit donated from the community. So, we would appreciate donations of apples, pears, plums, and quince again. If you need the fruit picked, please let me know and I am sure we can arrange something. You can call me at 250-210-3087. We would also love to have any canning jars and lids that you have that you no longer need. If you have jars or lids that you would like to donate to our school, you can drop them off at my house. The address is 59 Pilkey Point Road. (just leave them on the porch if we are not home) or you can drop them off at the school on Friday the 30thof August before noon.
Thank you to the Thetis Island Community for all your support of our school and our students.
Genny Redman
