Thank You Note

As the beginning of my course approaches, I am both excited and thankful. As of February 11th, 2019 I will be attending college at VIU Cowichan for the next year. During my time there I will develop skills in customer relations, bookkeeping, and computer software applications.

I first heard of the Applied Business Technology program in my grade 11 year. The course interested me because its the perfect chance for me to use my strengths in math, English, and organization. There is also plenty of room for promotion in the field of business. A certificate in Business Administration will lead to many job opportunities, usually right after graduation.

Attending school would be difficult if it weren't for all the support I've received. Many thanks to Thetis Island CVRD, Thetis Island Community Fund, and Thetis Island Parents Association. Thank you to everyone who donated and fundraised to make these awards possible. I plan to use the funds to help pay for a computer, textbooks, school fees, and stationery supplies.

Thanks again for your generosity.

Printed e-Spokes

The printed espokes is in need of volunteer help.

Someone who can print out espokes weekly to our islanders, about 4 residents, who don't have a computer with email.  This does require a printer and takes up about an hour of your time per week. TICF does help with ink and paper.

Please email sjoe.nic@telus.net for more information.

2019 BC Parks Student Ranger Program

·        The 2019 Student Ranger Program Objectives

·        Requirements for the 2019 Season

·        2019 Student Ranger Crews

·        Student Ranger Regional Projects

·        Link to Job Posting

·        Additional Resources

BC Parks within the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy has created the 2018-2019 BC Parks Student Ranger Program to promote outdoor youth employment opportunities across the province. Students studying and/or interested in pursuing future studies or employment in a related field are encouraged to apply.

Applications are now being accepted for student ranger crew member and student ranger crew lead positions. The competitions close on February 24, 2019.

For the 2019 season, 12 crews of four student rangers will work in regions throughout the province, including Prince George, Fort St. John, Terrace, Bella Coola, Williams Lake, Manning Park, Cranbrook, Kamloops, Victoria (Goldstream Provincial Park), Black Creek (Miracle Beach Provincial Park), North Vancouver (Mount Seymour Provincial Park) and Sechelt (Porpoise Bay Provincial Park). Crew lead positions begin May 13 and crew members begin May 26, wrapping on August 30.

The Student Ranger Program has been made possible by funding from the BC Parks Licence Plate Program and a 50% wage-match from the Federal Government's Summer Work Experience - Green Jobs in Green Spaces Work Experience Program. BC Parks would further like to recognize the contributions of its partners Project Learning Tree Canada and Canadian Parks Council.
