Thetis Island Memories ~ Movie Night

Saturday, May 19th 7pm at Forbes Hall

Come enjoy an evening of Thetis Memories!  For all you long time residents it will be a time of laughter as we are reminded of how we used to look and the fun we’ve had over the years.  For many of you new comers it will be a great way to catch up on island history!  For example… Did you know that Santa, the real Santa, used to come to Thetis every December on a navy ship?  We have pictures to prove it! 

Times have changed but the spirit of this community hasn’t.  The digital slideshow will cover photos from 1982-2018 and may just include a special ‘never before seen’ video clip from 1959! A rare black and white gem.

To be honest I have yet to complete the slideshow.  However, with 1500+ photos to sort through, there’s no question this will be a memorable show!  Some events included in the slideshow are… The building of Forbes Hall, Sportsnic Days, Santa Ship, Parades, Art Soiree, and many other island events.

Despite the hours spent creating this piece of history, I’d hate anyone to miss out due to ticket costs. So, admission will be FREE and if you feel led to give, we would warmly welcome your donations.  All proceeds will go toward the Hall Expansion Project. Thanks to a generous donor, all donations raised will be matched.

A big shout out to Ralf Kempe and his Capernwray crew for the terrific job they’ve done on the boardwalk at the end of the meadow on the Lawrence Valley Trail!  

If you haven’t been on the trail yet, it’s well worth the walk and the planks that are now in place help you through some of the muddy bits in the valley bottom.

Registration of property owners will begin at 10:30 AM.

Cigarette Butts / Ferry Line Up

I was wondering why we don't have a "No Littering" sign posted at the ferry lineup?

Besides the paper cigarette butts don't rot for a long, long time and due to the smokers laziness of not picking up after themselves and using their ashtray to move it to a proper disposal site they're all over the road. Our home burnt down last year due to a wildfire that could easily have started from a cigarette butt. I'd hate for anyone on Thetis to go through that.

Egg Money Stolen

We are sad to report that the egg money from our egg sales in front of Howling Wolf Farm Market was stolen this weekend. Going forward if you wish to purchase our eggs please call 250-246-2650 and we will meet you at the Market. Seems the honour system doesn’t work on Thetis anymore.
