It is that time of year, again, when I need to remind people to keep their dogs at home, unless out for a walk.
Dogs love to run livestock, and deer. If it's running ahead of them, instincts will take over, and they will chase. It is horrible to watch a dog take down a lamb or fawn.
As unpracticed hunters, they usually maul, occasionally killing.
Your dog is your responsibility, not your neighbours' or your local farmers'.
There is absolutely no reason for allowing your dog to run loose. And if you think your dog would never chase something, you are wrong. All it takes is the right situation.
If you love your dog (I'm guessing that's why you got it in the first place), keep it with you, or keep it contained. If you don't have time for your dog, get help in getting it rehomed to someone who does have the time.
Thanks
Ann Dickie
Sunday evening around 6:00 p.m., I saw two larger dogs, one white and one black chasing a deer behind my property. Will the owner(s) kindly take responsibility for their dogs.

Visitors' Guide to Thetis Island 2018
If we're going to have a Visitors' Guide this year we'd better get on with it. If there's anyone out there who would actually like to put it together, please get in touch!
Otherwise, would all those who would like their business or service listed in a Guide this year please let me know by the end of this week.
I don't think the printing costs have gone up, so unless there are far fewer of us this time, the cost should be the same - $5 per line.
Please see last year's version as a point of reference - it's downloadable from http://thetisisland.net/ftp/VG_2017_web.pdf
Thanks!
