Boat Owner Alert

There are two vessels that have pulled from their anchors/moorings on the South end of Telegraph Harbour Marina.

One is a catamaran that travelled North and the other is a sailing vessel called Huckleberry.

Huckleberry has drifted to the Penelakut side of the harbour. Tonight’s assist was futile.

Hopefully owner will be contacted or see this posting.

Coast Salish Canoe Journeys - Paddle to Lummi

Hello fellow islanders,

There is a significant cultural event happening in the waters of the Salish Sea…Coast Salish Canoe Journeys – Paddle to Lummi.

Lisa Wilcox is our Senior Intergovernmental Policy Advisor for the Islands Trust and First Nations reconciliation is one of her responsibilities. Her description of the Paddle Journey to Lummi event is worth reading and sharing.

This link to the Trustee Corner on the Islands Trust website and Lisa’s description of the Paddle to Lummi, a map and a couple of interesting links. (cut and paste to your browser - http://www.islandstrust.bc.ca/islands/local-trust-areas/thetis/local-trustee-corner/.

Penelakut Tribe will be leaving early Saturday morning (July 20, 2019) on their Paddle Journey to Lummi.

Deadline for Fall Quarterly

It's that time again - this is first warning that the deadline for stories, ads, notices, etc. for the Fall issue of the Quarterly will be on or around the 10th of August.

If you are planning something for this issue, I'll appreciate knowing about it, and if the deadline might be an issue, let me know about that too.

Also - we always respond to anything you send us, so if you don't hearback, please try again, or phone.  Sometimes email gets lost in the ether, but it's still the best way to send things to us.

Thanks!

Veronica

From the Library...

The Book and Bake Sale is on!

The pub has generously offered the pavilion for the sale.  It will be on August 4, with set-up the same day. This is a yearly event with the funds raised used to maintain our lovely island library.

I don't have as many books this year so it should be a faster set-up.

Interested in helping?

Thank you.
