Horse Found

Thank you so much to the Buhr family for hosting our horse Diva (who is apparently very well well named!) in their yard this morning.  She is home safe and sound and hopefully without further drama.

If she damaged anyone's property in her romp please contact us directly and we will do what we can to remediate.  250-246-9717.

Thank you again to everyone that helped out.

Horse at Large

One of our horses went through the fence last night from the Frasers’ place (across from Capernwray on North Cove Rd).

We've scanned the area but now have to wait until it's light out.

If you see her please call us at 250-246-9717.

She's only been here a day so she'll probably be skittish.  Is definitely food-motivated though.

Ferry Schedule Labels

Just a reminder that the ferry schedule labels are available for pick-up from the Recycling yard and the Post Office during their respective open hours, or from Veronica at 410 Pilkey Point Road (call 250-246-1509 to check that we're here before coming).

There are enough for all the 2016 phone books, so be sure to get enough for all your copies.

If you just want a nice printed version, Veronica has a bunch that were incorrectly printed on slightly larger label stock, too big for the phone book but you can use it for whatever else you like.

Fire Extinguisher Clinic ~ Sunday, June 25th 2PM

The Annual TIVFD home Fire Extinguisher Clinic will be held on Sunday, June 25th at Central Fire Hall on Mission Road at 2 p.m.  Aggressive Fire Safety technician and owner Neil Rukus will inspect your fire extinguishers for serviceability at no charge and will also instruct you on how to properly use an Extinguisher on real flames.  Extinguishers will also be available for sale.  Everyone should learn how to use a fire Extinguisher effectively before you are faced with using one in an emergency.
Also, Deputy Chief Peter Luckham will have some WASP sprinkler protection units for sale.  These robust and low water pressure units can be used ahead of a wildfire front to create a cool and humid area around your home to ward off ignition from firebrands and embers and are quickly mountable on your roof before an evacuation request.
TIVFD firefighters will also be available to answer your Fire Smart questions and show you our hall and equipment.  Colouring books for the kids.

Solid Waste Yard ~ Volunteers Needed

A Message From your Thetis Island Solid Waste Committee:

A sign that Spring is upon us and summer is coming; yes, there are more flowers, birds singing, longer daze and warmer ones. ANOTHER sign; our Solid Waste Site/Yard is getting much busier!  Our volunteers and staff are working all out to keep the recycling moving and "waste flowing" (pardon the pun), yup, business is blooming busy!!

Having said a "yard full"; It would be marvelous, wonderful if we could get one or two more volunteers to assist the crew and supporting not only the SW Site, but our WHOLE community. It's a rewarding, social, and, yes can even be a fun, experience, free people watching too!  Any time you could volunteer would be deeply appreciated.

Please, talk to Louise at the site, Wednesday's or Saturday's, or give a phone call; 250-246-2099.

Thanks Happy Spring & Summer,

TISWMC (Thetis island Solid Waste Committee)
