Rides Wanted

Rides wanted between Thetis/Salt Spring or Chemainus/Crofton

Fridays to Thetis: April 13, 20, 27 + May 4, 11

Sundays to Salt Spring: April 15, 22, 29 + May 6, 13

Open to travel by ferries, boats and automobiles and planes :)

I live on Thetis and am taking a 6-week course on Salt Spring. I am looking for some creative solutions for the weekly commute as I won’t have a vehicle.

I will be travelling from Thetis to Salt Spring on Sundays (or very early Mondays) and from Salt Spring to Thetis on Friday evenings.

I will happily pay for gas/time/service/kindness.

If you are headed to town by car on any of the dates listed and are willing to scoop me up and drop off at the ferry terminals or have a boat and are willing to transport me on any of the dates please let me know.

Feel free to contact me for more details or to make arrangements.

Thank you very much,

Tatiana

Deer Family

Many thanks to the Kempe family for putting big smiles on our faces as we drive, or walk by their home and Telegraph Harbour. The "family" of deer provide us all with a daily delight, a big smile and spontaneous laughter.

What we find truly amazing is how calm those two deer are in that little rowboat, enjoying life, fishing away in the harbour.

We do hope the DFO will not bother them about where they are fishing and, or if, they have fishing licenses.

Oh well, maybe deer do not need fishing licenses?

Premium Organic Top Soil Annual Sale & Fundraiser

The Bannisters are accepting orders for premium organic top soil made by Cinnabar Valley Farms as part of a fundraiser for the Nanaimo Track and Field Club. The revenues support travel, equipment and facility maintenance for the club. Kaz Bannister has been an active member of the club for one year now and was thrilled to receive the most improved female athlete award, thanks to the high quality coaches and facilities. This year Kaz hopes to make it to the provincial track meets and also qualify for the BC Summer Games.

The premium organic topsoil is a great product at a great price of $5 for a 40 pound bag. Like last year, Ron is willing to bring 2 flatbed trailer loads to Thetis and deliver to your door. We ask for an extra $1 per bag to help cover the ferry costs for the truck and trailer, so the total including delivery to your home on Thetis is $6 per bag.

Thetis Island orders and arrangement for payment can be made by email (kelly_bannister@telus.net ) or phone (250-246-9753). Orders will be taken until April 25 or until we fill up 2 trailer loads. Delivery will be during the first week of May (specific date to be announced).

For those living off-Thetis in the Cedar to Lantzville area, orders can be made directly via the NTFC website. You can put in “Kaz Bannister” for the name of the athlete to credit with the order if you choose. If you order through the website directly, then your pickup date is May 6th at the track in Nanaimo, or you can get free delivery by Cinnabar Valley Farms for 5 bags or more. Check the online order form for more details: https://www.nanaimotrackandfield.com/soil-sale-1

"Get to the Point" Photo Gallery

A photo gallery of Get to the Point is being assembled, and will be on thetisblog.

If anyone does not want their photo, or photos of their children, posted (recognizable),
please let us know so we can either photoshop you out, or not include the photo in the gallery.

A link to the gallery will be posted on e-spokes and on the Thetis Island Community Posts FB Page.

We will put it online Sunday.

Ann Dickie
Here's a picture of the second "Get to the Point" t-shirt from 2001, how do we know it was the second? Because the first year it was printed on the back of the t-shirt.  Now, we just need to figure out what year it was! Original artwork, year 1 & year 2 was by Chris French.  Thanks to Sharon Janzen for her great memory :)
