Roadways

Grant Gordon, Joe Knowles, and Travis Clayton have done a terrific job keeping our main roads open during the recent snowfalls.

This is a tough job, made tougher by abandoned cars on the roadways. Mainroad cannot plough when the roadsides are blocked. This also means that emergency vehicles cannot get down unploughed roads. Both Grant and the TIVFD recommend that if you absolutely must get out on the roads during forecasted snow events, plan ahead. Have legal winter tires (not all-season- must have snowflake or mountain graphic) and also carry proper sized chains. This past snow event was easy peasey for vehicles with chains.

If you absolutely must abandon your vehicle on a roadway, make immediate arrangements to have it moved so that the roads can be ploughed safely on both sides. Both Grant and your Fire Dept. hope we have seen an end to the winter, but this is still the time to shop for tire chains for next winter.
