Nature House Module 3, July 16 – 17: The Moore You Know & Foraging For Fish

Join us this Friday and Saturday for two events! In the mornings we will meet at the Moore Hill Nature Reserve for an active session. During this time we will discover the species and habitats native to this exciting ecosystem. Ann Eriksson will be joining us to discuss the history of this protected area, its rich biodiversity and citizen science in your community! Think you know your island? You can always learn "Moore"!
For this morning session, we will meet at the Moore Hill Nature Reserve entrance, please park on the west shoulder of the road.
In our afternoon session we will be discovering the importance of Forage fish in our aquatic ecosystem. This will include learning about their role in the food web, the sampling techniques involved in studying this critical species and a hands-on experience with our coastal aquatic life!
For this afternoon session, we will meet at the Nature House on the Portal property. Please park at the Fairyslipper trail parking lot and walk down to the Nature House.
Disclaimer: There is a short but steep incline involved in the morning hike, please wear proper footwear. A portion of the afternoon events will be held indoors, please bring a mask.
