Are You Ready?

Wildfire season is in full swing. Would you have what you need if you had to leave your home at a moment’s notice?
Have a “grab and go” kit ready. Phone charger, medications, snack food, water, glasses, pet food and bowls (and your pets, preferably in suitable crates since you will have them in your vehicle), more water, toiletries, extra clothes (don’t pack for a cruise, pack for a shelter), credit cards and important papers such as copies of your home insurance (you could plan ahead and put everything on a thumb drive to put in your kit), etc. You know what would be difficult to replace and hard to pack in ten minutes. (Put your photos on a thumb drive too).
Close all windows and shut curtains, close interior doors, and quickly throw things off your porch (mats, furniture, flammable objects) over six feet from structure.
Preplanning for a “bug out” will lower your anxiety if it is necessary, and gives you an extra few minutes to hook up your sprinkler protection kit (if you have one) and turn it on as you leave.
Lytton residents had less than 15 minutes to get out. Can you be ready in ten?
