TICA’s Community Grant Updates

Last year with the help of a team of volunteers, TICA applied for and received two grants from the Government of Canada.
Funds from the Canada Healthy Communities Initiative grant provided:
- a water line and electrical service to the Pavilion, giving us another usable space for outdoor events
- the expansion of the children’s playground area with new drainage, curbs and seating bench
- the interior perimeter seating around the assembly hall and patio perimeter seating outside the assembly hall.
Funds from the New Horizons for Seniors Program of the federal department of Employment and Social Development provided:
- the new padded black chairs which have been used at various community events and meetings
- the new computer and laser printer now installed in the library for everyone’s use
- plants, shrubs and small trees to finish the planting in the gardens around Forbes Hall
- an Irrigation system for the gardens
- soil and mulch which is still to be purchased.
We thank everyone who helped us secure these grants which will enhance the facilities at Forbes Hall and benefit our entire community.
