ThINC Nature House - Today's Activities - Thursday, July 13

2:00 pm - 4:00 pm Wild Creatives: Hapa-Zome Printing (all ages)

Location: The Nature House at The Portal, 254 North Cove Road

Join Erica to do this fun craft, appropriate for any age interested! Hapa-Zome, literally meaning ‘leaf-dye’, is a Japanese printmaking technique that uses the natural pigments of leaves and flowers to make beautiful printed designs. This is done by smashing them into a fabric, usually cotton or linen. We will provide materials but feel free to bring any flowers and/or fabric you feel inspired to use.

6:30 pm - 8:00 pm ThINC Tank: Screening of Island of the Sea Wolves - Episode 2: Summer (youth, adults)

Location: The Nature House at The Portal, 254 North Cove Road

Join us for the second episode of Island of the Sea Wolves (2022)! If you missed the first episode about spring on the coast last week, no worries! You can join us for Episode 2 about the summer. This series explores the wildlife of the Vancouver Island coast and sheds light on the unique species of sea wolves that inhabit the coast. This documentary provides exceptional cinematography and insight into the world of the sea wolves. It will be followed by a discussion of the episode.
