Thetis Island Marina and Resort Proposal to Residents: Temporary Food & Beverage Service & Staff Update

Dear Residents,

As many of you know, our summer staff have finished their season, and our winter staff — unfortunately and without notice — have chosen to take other work in a different province. This has left us without cooks and shutting down completely and then reopening later would not be practical or smart for the community or the business. In fact, if we shut down now, it could mean waiting until spring before reopening — and we don’t believe that’s what any of us, or the community, want.

To keep something open for everyone to enjoy, here’s what we’re proposing:

Menu Concept: A simple but high-quality menu featuring gourmet soups and sandwiches.

Execution: Supported by Murray, Chef Odika, and others willing to step in and help with preparation and service.

Schedule: Tentatively Thursday to Sunday, with the option to add service on hockey game nights and other big events so residents have a place to gather.

Purpose: Maintain a welcoming spot where we can meet, enjoy drinks, eat, and still generate revenue — instead of shutting down and risking a long closure.

Before moving forward, we’d like to make sure the community is on board. This is about making it work smartly for everyone — keeping the space open, covering costs, and ensuring it’s sustainable until we’re back to full operations.

Staff Update

First, we’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kelsey and Russell. Kelsey had an amazing summer, and both of you — along with the entire team — did a fantastic job. Your hard work and dedication were truly appreciated, and we wish you the very best as you move on.

At the same time, please join us in welcoming Dianne Bazil and Emily McIver, who will be taking the helm as we move into the winter season. We are confident they will provide strong leadership and stability as we move forward.

Here’s to a successful and positive winter season together!

Sincerely,

Angie Cousins

On behalf of Thetis Island Marina and Resort
