Thetis Island Archives are about to See the Light of Day!
Sunday, February 22, 2026 at 7:40AM TICA is undertaking a clean-up and re-sort of all the items stored in the Forbes Hall basement. In the project’s early stages, Nan Beals offered to pitch in and help Teresa Moore go through the seven filing cabinets that were moved out of the old building into the shipping containers and then back into the new building when it was completed. Nothing had been sorted or gone through before going into storage when construction started in 2019.
Aside from a mountain of administrative documents, the two found a treasure trove of archives that had been collected and documented over the years by many different islanders. These were set aside and Nan agreed to take on the responsibility of cataloguing the archival material, storing it safely in the hall and creating a dynamic display board in the front corridor of the hall. Display boards have now been mounted in the corridor and are ready for the first installation of photos and documents. An illuminated display cabinet will be installed in the main entry this spring.
We are very excited to finally have room for the archives to be on display in the hall and to have Nan take the lead on this exciting, long overdue project!
