Open Invitation to All from the BC Lacemakers
Monday, May 4, 2026 at 7:55AM The BC Lacemakers extend an open invitation to anyone who would like to visit with them on Thursday, May 7th, during the afternoon at Capernwray Bible Center.
View a variety of lace and perhaps learn basic lacemaking.
History: In 1919, Miss Elsie Spenser travelled from England to Denman Island to visit her brother. She brought her pillow and bobbins and when the women on Denman Island expressed interest, she proceeded to teach them bobbin lace. They travelled to their meetings on Denman Island by boat. Thus began the first Lacemaking Club in Canada - on a Gulf Island! The Denman and District Lace Club celebrated their 100th anniversary a few years ago.
