The Quarterly: News and Ideas
Sunday, August 16, 2026 at 7:22AM Carol Sowerby will be retiring as Quarterly editor following the December 2026 issue. This has led the TICA Board to discuss the future of the 36-year-old Quarterly.
After fulsome discussions, TICA feels the time is ripe to explore the magazine's role within the Thetis community and, with community support, possibly start afresh with a new publication format.
How to start fresh? TICA will hold a gathering for community members who value an island-based publication, enjoy the stories islanders share, and are interested in the people, events and everyday life of our island community. By gathering, we can brainstorm, share ideas and explore a publication format that could be a great fit for our community.

If you are interested in seeing the continuation of an island publication and have ideas to share, please plan to attend an afternoon get-together at Forbes Hall on Saturday, September 12th at 2 pm, facilitated by the Thetis Island Community Association. Coffee, tea and cookies will be provided.
We will be connected through Google Meet if you're wanting to join us remotely. If you'd like to send us ideas ahead of time, please send to: info@forbeshall.ca
