Fire Department Notice: Controlled Rock Blasting – Wednesday – August 5

Residents are advised that a controlled rock blasting operation will take place on Wednesday at Lot 342 (Old Hunter Campground) by a reputable, licensed blasting contractor.

The work has been coordinated with the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire Department, and the Thetis Island Improvement district is expected to be completed by 1:00 p.m.

Due to the current fire weather conditions, additional fire protection measures have been put in place. These include:

* 1,250 gallons of water on site

* A dedicated fire pump

* A TIVFD presence will be on site throughout the operation to monitor conditions and respond immediately if required

* Blasting Matts

These precautions have been implemented to help ensure the work is carried out safely.
