Dive In! ~ Book Launch and Marine Slideshow ~ November 25th

On Sunday, Nov 25, from 2-4 pm, join Ann Eriksson, Andy Lamb and Suzanne Sarioglu at Forbes Hall to celebrate the launch of Dive In!, Ann's new non-fiction book for children.

The book is for children but the message (and the celebration) is for everyone. Dive In! explores our intimate connection with the ocean and provides every reader with an achievable set of actions that can help improve ocean health for our sake and the sake of the millions of marine plants and animals that share the planet with us. Several Thetis Islanders make appearances in the book.

During the celebration, Andy Lamb will be showing his beautiful underwater slides and talking about Marine Protected Areas, the most effective way to improve ocean health. Suzanne will tell us all about the initiative to create a Marine Protected Area in the Salish Sea, including the waters around Thetis Island.

This is a family-friendly event with something for everyone of all ages. Ocean-themed refreshments will be served. Signed copies of Dive In!  will be available for purchase.

This event is sponsored by the Thetis Island Library. Come join us and learn what you can do in your own life to "be kind to the ocean, it connects us all."

We Remembered

Thank you to all who made the time to honour the past and express our hopes for the future by attending the Remembrance Day gathering at Forbes Hall on Sunday at 11am.

Murray Fraser had arranged for the fly past over us at 10:54 a.m. and it was great to have Michelle volunteer to play taps once again during the lowering of the flag.

Thank you Graeme Shelford for facilitating, and also a big thank you to the TIVFD Auxiliary for the coffee service that was much appreciated by those attending.

Lest We Forget.
