Kitten Wanted

My cousin has been searching for a male kitten, orange or tabby or grey, for over a year with no luck because she lives in the Lower Mainland and the SPCA will not adopt out kittens to people that allow their cats to go outdoors.  SPCA asks you to sign a document saying you will always keep your cat indoors.  Since they already have an indoor/outdoor cat, they can’t sign the document.

So if you have any leads on a male kitten that is NOT black and white (they already have one) please let me know.

Celebrating a Local Reward Recipient!

Dear Community,

It is my great delight to sure with you that our own beloved Ann Eriksson has been recognized with the Land Trust Alliance of BC's (LTABC) Outstanding Volunteer award for her work on the Fairyslipper Forest acquisition project. Ann has put so much time and energy into this initiative through her grant writing; coordinating and hosting biologist visits for species surveys. She also acts as lead communicator with our project partners, the Islands Trust Fund and the Cowichan Community Land Trust. Ann's unwavering commitment to Nature helps to keep the rest of us on the ThINC board motivated and inspired. We're not quite sure how she does it all, but we are endlessly grateful! Don't miss your opportunity to congratulate Ann in person on November 13, at 'In Concert; a Celebration of Music, Literature, Art, and Nature'! (2-5 pm, Heneage House)

I was honoured to attend the awards dinner this week at the LTABC seminar and accept the award on Ann's behalf. I wanted to share with you all what I heard over and over again at the seminar. The Thetis Island community itself is the focus of so much positive attention right now for your amazing generosity and support of the Fairyslipper project! People are blown away by the fact that such a small population base has pledged so much make this ambitious vision a reality.

We have eight more months to go and there is still much work ahead, but clearly this community is made of special stuff and we can achieve amazing things together.

With joy and gratitude,

Steph Cottell
