Harry Armstrong ~ Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life for Harry Armstrong will be held at Forbes Hall Community Centre, Thetis Island, on Saturday, November 26th from 2 pm to 4 pm.  There will be a Fire Service Honour Guard and Fire Fighter Procession from the fire hall to the community centre, arriving at 2 pm and a short, traditional fire service recognition ceremony.

Retired TIVFD members and visiting fire fighters are invited to follow the procession and Engine 1 and should muster at the fire hall at 1:30.

Neighbours, friends and residents are asked to be at Forbes Hall before 2 pm, and to leave a clear space for the fire truck to manoeuver the driveway and park in front of the main doors.

There will be time made for your reminiscences and Marge will have her family with her.  Light refreshments will be served.

Harry served as Deputy Chief of the TIVFD from the beginning to 2003 (23 years) and was a career fire fighter for thirty years with the Vancouver Fire Department before that.

Flu Shot Clinic ~ Reminder

The Annual ‘Flu Shot Clinic is this Friday, October 28th, at Forbes Hall from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.

Please try to remember to bring your Health Number.  If your doctor wants you to get a pneumonia shot this year, that will also be available.

Don’t forget to wear a short sleeved shirt under your sweater…we are famous for the speed and efficiency our community exhibits to VIHA at this injection clinic.

As in the past, a snack service hosted by the TIVFD Auxiliary will be available while you “recuperate”.

Running Club

Susy Fordham and Ted Bieber are once again leading a Running Club for students from Capernwray Harbour.  It will happen on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 6:00am.  Our first run will be Tuesday (Nov 1st).

North Cove Road will be our usual route.

If anyone is interested in further details regarding our running programme,

please contact Susy at 246-3158 or sfordham@capernwray.ca

Islanders are welcome to join.  We move gradually from walking to running - the Cedar 12K run on April 9, 2017 is our goal.

The Cat Came Back!

My cat Artemis (a.k.a. Pupuce) has been missing for over a week from our property in Meadow Valley. Has anyone seen her around? She likes her comfort so I wouldn't be surprised if she'd found a second hospitable home somewhere! She is rather small but not skinny, tabby and white with green eyes. Very friendly. If you think you may have seen her please call 250 436 0058 or email anais.gerber@tarao.org

Thanks in advance!
