A reminder that the Annual ‘Flu Shot Clinic is scheduled for Friday, October 28th, at Forbes Hall from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m.
Please try to remember to bring your Health Number. If your doctor wants you to get a pneumonia shot this year, that will also be available.
Don’t forget to wear a short sleeved shirt under your sweater…we are famous for the speed and efficiency our community exhibits to VIHA at this injection clinic.
As in the past, a coffee service hosted by the TIVFD Auxiliary will be available while you “recuperate”.

Sunday, October 16, 2016 at 11:04AM We have taken the friendly grey & black tabby cat with ear tattoo: tai 06e to the Duncan SPCA.

Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 1:49PM We have an elderly horse we are looking to bring to the island.
Because of his age he does best in a larger enclosure (so his joints don't stiffen up) and with access to grass if possible. Other than that his needs are few and we will do all the feeding/watering/picking up, etc.
We are not looking for a barn or stable. We can figure out a shelter or even fencing if needed. He has a miniature horse as a companion as well.
While he is retired, he is still rideable and very well trained in case someone is interested in a partial trade for riding privileges.
Please contact us at hradmcclellan@gmail.com if you would be interested in having him and what the board fee would be.
Thanks! Kevin and Ellen McClellan
Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at 1:47PM We are thrilled to announce that the Cowichan Land Trust, in partnership with the Thetis Island Nature Conservancy and the Islands Trust Fund, has been awarded a $50,000 grant by the Sitka Foundation for the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve project. The Sitka Foundation is a non-profit organization with the mission to assist initiatives that support the environment. It aims to support organizations that advance land and nature conservation, invest in community projects and groups globally, and provide leadership in stewardship and environmental education. You can read more about them at sitkafoundation.org
Added to the $75,000 raised during our summer matching campaign, the Fairyslipper Forest campaign now stands at $325,000 in committed pledges and donations, close to 60% of the way to our goal! Help us get the rest of the way by making a pledge (contact ThINC@thetisisland.net or call Suzanne at 260-246-9965) or by donating to the Fairyslipper Forest Nature Reserve (Thetis Island Acquisition Fund) at the Islands Trust Fund (http://www.islandstrustfund.bc.ca/donate/give-now.aspx)
Thank you to the Sitka Foundation and all supporters of this exciting project.
