Soccer Season Grand Finale Set for May 24th At 5PM

Our Thetis Island Community Soccer (TICS) club is winding up another successful season at the end of May with the annual challenge game against the Volunteer Fire Department. Kick off is set for Wednesday, May 24th at 5 pm sharp at the Capernwray soccer field. All soccer alumni (no matter how fit or rusty) are invited to play and the whole community is welcome to cheer on the players.

This game will be a very special one as it is also a farewell to Coach Gerry Smith who has donated his time, patience and coaching skills to Thetis children and youth for over 20 amazing years! Assistant coaches Simone Luckham and Kelly Bannister, along with all the TICS team, will be on hand on May 24th to ensure Gerry has a final game to remember. Please join us to bring smiles to the young ones and send Gerry off in style!

Breaking Island Tides News

Dear 20,000 Readers

Due to an unexpected health issue (detached retina) I won't be publishing Island Tides for a while. After 27 years, this is more than a little odd for me - and probably for you! I will keep you posted of whatever happens next.

Meanwhile, if you, or anyone you know, with an entrepreneurial bent and a passion for current affairs would seriously like to own a respected online news source connecting our amazing coast and its people, please get in touch: 250-216-2267, islandtides@islandtides.com.

Please forward this email to other islanders who may not be on our reminder list and would like to know what's going on.

warm regards, Christa Grace-Warrick

Thetis Island Open House ~ MP Alistair MacGregor

Meet and chat with your Member of Parliament, Alistair MacGregor

Wednesday May 24th, 2:00pm - 4:00pm

Forbes Hall Community Centre

Thetis Island residents are invited to join their Member of Parliament, Alistair MacGregor for a Thetis Island - Open House.

Island life has it's many, many upsides. However, it also has it's challenges.

Alistair wants to be able to best represent the residents of Thetis Island and needs to hear from you. What concerns do you have? What issues should he be raising in Ottawa?

This Open House will be an informal, drop-in opportunity for you to meet and chat with your MP.

Snacks and light refreshments will be served.

Hope to see you there!
