Babysitting during wedding at Overbuy
Two couples attending the wedding at Overbury this Saturday, September 17th would like to hire a babysitter.
Each couple has a 4 year old and one couple also has a 15 month old.
They would like a babysitter to watch the children during the ceremony and during speeches.
As well, the babysitter would look after the children in the cottage once the children are asleep until the end of the reception at 12:30 am

TIRRA Trail License Update

Thanks to Noah & Elisabeth Bond of jollity FARM, we now have another Trail Licence agreement in place. TIRRA will be working with the Bonds to develop the trail with plans to connect through to the Dickies' and onto the existing community trail.

Heads Up for Arms Bared

The 2016 Annual ‘Flu Shot Clinic Event will be early this year. 

Friday, October 28th, at Forbes hall from 9:30 t0 11;00 am. 

The Influenza vaccination will be available to all.  Also, if you are over 65 yrs. and need the pneumonia vaccination, it will be available.  Please mark you calendar.  This annual event is made possible by the TIVFD, the TIVFD Auxiliary, VIHA, and the Community Fund.

Missing Cat ~ Frankie

Edith Hyatt is away for a few days and Ron can’t find her cat, Frankie.  158 Klahowya Road.  246-3038.  Frankie is 16, skinny and frail, and in poor health.  If you see her please call Ron or niece Jeannine 246-3876.  No news is not good news.  Thanks.

Campfire Permits ~ Starting Wed. Sept. 7th

As of noon Wednesday, September 7th, solid fuel (wood etc.) evening campfires with a fire permit will be allowed.  Fire Permits may be obtained online at www.thetisislandfire.ca or in person from Vicki or Andy at the Thetis Island Solid Waste/Recycling Centre on Wednesday and Saturday mornings from 9 am to Noon.  No other open burning (no burn barrel, incinerator, yard waste piles etc.) will be permitted at this time.

School's Back ~ Caution!

School is in this week.  This means the school speed zone is in effect Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.  This may affect some drivers on North Cove late for a ferry etc. but it affects ALL of our schoolchildren's safety.  Please slow down.

Junior Firefighter Position Open

The Thetis Island Vol. Fire Dept. has an opening for a Junior Fire Fighter.  Must be 15 years of age, have signed parental permission, be willing to train with the Fire Fighters on Wednesday evenings from 7 pm until 9 pm weekly.  Benefits are:  community service, skills acquirement, camaraderie with the department, recommendations for high school resumes, WorkSafe BC coverage, and opportunities for advancement.  Young women and men are equally welcomed.
