Thursday 08:05 Ferry Concerns ~ Through May 11

Many residents have recently found the Thursday 8:05 am sailing to be almost full when it arrives from Penelakut and only able to take a few cars from Thetis. The reason is that Penelakut school has 2 buses and 110 people commuting on that ferry for swim lessons through May 11th. Unfortunately, our little Thetis school also has swim lessons booked for the same time so we have 4 cars with about 18 passengers needing to get on the 8:05 am thursdays. Our school has barely all made it on each week so far, even though we are in the line up early.

This email is to let the community know of the situation and to also humbly and respectfully ask that if it is possible for you to plan to take another ferry and enable all the school kids to get on the 8:05 and attend their lessons, it would be tremendously appreciated. Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and grace in helping our little school through this unforeseen challenge.

TIVFD ~ BBQ Brush Warning

Last year's CBC news item that bears repeating before you get your BBQ out for the season:

"Canadian surgeons are urging people to throw out their wire-bristled BBQ brushes, because none of them have figured out a sure-fire way of removing the wires when they get stuck in people's throats. "

TVFD ~ Thinking Ahead...

Hard to believe with all this spring rain that the TIVFD is planning on another hot, dry summer with probable fire bans in place.

We recommend that if you enjoy summer campfires, invest in a CSA approved Propane Campfire appliance.

They are safe, economical, long lasting, produce no smoke, sparks or embers, and can be quickly shut off, leaving no problematic ash or hot charcoal.  You can even char your marshmallows over them! They are allowed during Provincial fire bans.

Be fire smart this summer.

From the Library ~

Missing from the library:

The Couple Next Door book (there is no name on the borrower's card)

Game of Thrones season 1 and 2

Call the Midwife season 4

~ ~ ~

Borrowers cards:

A gentle reminder that adult dvds have borrower's cards.

Adult fiction books have borrower's cards.

Please sign the card, write the date of borrowing, and place the card by title in the box.

Many dvds have been out for a long time.  If you have finished watching, please return it so others can enjoy.

Thanks for your continued support of our great little library.
