CVRD Burning Bylaw ~ Islands Trust Local Trust Committee Meeting

CVRD director Mel Dory will be joining the Thetis Island Local Trust Committee this coming Tuesday the 18th to talk about the CVRD Burning bylaw proposal.

The meeting is scheduled for 9:30am in the Forbes hall Library.

This will be a brief item to determine the level of interest and the necessity for public consultation on Thetis.

Thetis Island included in Area G is not presently included in the proposed bylaw.

If you are concerned about air quality or your need to burn yard waste you may want to join us for this discussion.

Please note that the Thetis Island Volunteer Fire department currently manages open burning, and burn permits.

Please click here for more details.

Easter Service ~ Community Church

Sunday service will be held at Forbes Hall starting at 10 A.M. Thetis Island Community Church welcomes everyone to join them in celebrating the Risen Lord.  Communion will be served during the service as well.  Our speaker will be Garry Wickett who writes, “My texts ar. Matt 26: 57-68 and John 20: 24-29.    The title will be "Jesus-the Lord God.  “

It is our church’s tradition to arrange spring flowers in a specially wired crucifix as you come into the service so please remember your daffodils or whatever you have blooming that would be suitable. If you have an abundance of blooms, perhaps you might considering bringing some extra along for those who have none.

SOAS Request

School Orchard Africa is very grateful to the Frankels for donating page wire fencing for the fig tree.  That certainly should do the trick!

All we need now are a couple lengths of rebar and we’re ready to go.  We are also looking for some gently used items that would be appropriate to win as prizes or package together with other items to auction off.

If you have been contemplating your spring cleaning and de-cluttering we would be happy to receive them and recycle all in the name of a very good cause.

Save your Stamps ~

Heartfelt thanks to those who take the time to send me the processed stamps from their mail.  I delivered 3 shopping bags full of stamps last week and the Cancer Agency was ever so pleased to receive them.  Monies raised from the resale of the stamps buys much-needed bandages and other supplies for cancer patients in the Cowichan Valley. As long as the stamps can be used I am prepared to collect and deliver them.
