Thanks to the generosity of islanders and visitors, the library has had another successful book and bake sale with over $1200 being raised for library materials. It could not happen without volunteers.
I had a large dedicated group this year of helpers this year; Bing, Myla, Ken Redman, Vicky, Sage, Curt, Shirley Burr and friend, Jonathan and Virginia, Helen Bird, Bev Stuart, Ruth Goodbody, Veronica, Pauline, Isabel and Alison, Vicky and Ryan, and Peggy Thompson. I think we made a good team.
It also could not happen without the many donations of books and delicious baking and Nan's coffee. I really appreciate the support of my island community.
Your local librarian,
Celine
A set of DVDs of the Reid/Cameron Families were discovered during our annual Library Book Sale. We are attempting to contact the families or someone who might know them to advise them of our discovery.
Please contact me at 250-246-2099 or e-mail frankel@island.net if you have any information.
Thanks,
Myla Frankel

fantabulous is a 'new word' created to describe this dinner.
To whet your taste buds, here is the menu created by Ann Dickie for Saturday night at the Summer Soiree & Art Auction. This beautiful menu will be prepared by capable & dedicated volunteers, and the food costs for the entire dinner have been donated by Capernwray Harbour Bible Center. Our servers for the evening are the summer staff from Pioneer Pacific Camp, who will also do all the evening dishes at Pioneer Camp. A big thank you, in advance, to everyone involved in the food preparation, serving and clean up.

Hi everyone,
Just a little reminder that yoga is cancelled on Thursday due to the Art Soiree setup, however we are running classes all summer, $10 each class. Tuesdays with Dawn 9:30-10:45 and Thursdays with Sonya 9:30- 10:45, let your guests know, we have had lots of drop in visitors.
Have a great week, see some of you at the Art Soiree on Saturday.
Blessings, Dawn
You may not be registered to vote in the upcoming federal election despite having voted here on Thetis Island before. Under the new Fair Elections Act, Elections Canada can no longer promote voting. To make sure you are registered for the October 19th voting date, you can now register on-line at www.elections.ca/register.
When filling out the online form, choose "civic address" and they will list the Thetis Island roads. When you fill in your mailing address as different, you will be directed to a new form and fill in your post box address. Your phone and email info is optional but you do have to fill in a "move date" to get the form to send. Make a best guess at when you moved here.
You can also register at the Cowichan-Malahat-Langford (our new riding) Electoral Office or by mail.
Advance polls are October 9,10,11 and 12 and you will most likely have to travel off island to advance vote, with your voter registration ID. Mail in ballots (Special Ballots) will also be available for registered voters but must be requested before 3 pm October 11th and the completed mail in ballot must reach Elections Canada by 3 pm October 19th or your vote will not be counted.
Please try to make sure you are registered before polling day and tell your friends too.
