Wanted : a Good Home

Male, neutered, all black, very friendly, 2 year old cat available to a good Thetian home.

'Ceder' sustained a fractured hock joint in early December which I set using orthopaedic wire. He is making excellent progress whilst being housed at the Salt Spring SPCA.

He will be ready for adoption at the beginning of February and is expected to regain full, unimpeded use of his leg again.

FAC ~ December 2014 Stats

Here are the December 2014 ferry traffic graphs and stats.

Route 20 was up .68% for the month (I think it was our relatives who came over for a family party on the 27th...they brought 7 vehicles on to the ferry!). It was not enough to off-set the YTD loss of -.94%.  Passengers were down again -2.35% for the month which puts the YTD loss at -3.20% or over 5000 passengers compared to this time last year.

Robbie Burns Pianist Needed ~

We are looking for a pianist willing to play 3 or 4 Scottish songs while others sing along at the Robbie Burns supper event on Saturday, January 17th at Forbes Hall.  We're not needing a virtuoso performance......just someone to accompany enthusiastic singers.

TICA & TIRRA Membership Dues

Now is the time to renew or take out membership in the Thetis Island Community Association and/or the Thetis Island Resident Ratepayers Association. Many of you will have received forms along with handy pre-addressed return envelopes. If you are new to our Island or did not receive a mailing, contact me, print one at www.thetisisland.net or pick one up in the Hunter Room/Library at our Community Centre\Forbes Hall.

TICA maintains and makes improvement to the Community Centre (Forbes Hall, the Hunter Room, Library, Community Kitchen, the multi-purpose tennis court/play area/event venue, the site gardens and grounds). Additionally, WiFi Internet access is available to all.

This well used busy place hosts activities ranging from pre-school, exercise groups, church services, luncheons, dinners, bridge, a variety of meetings and many other social functions.

Membership dues do not cover our minimum expenses to keep the doors open and maintain the grounds. The shortfall and improvements to the hall are supplemented by volunteer fundraising and donations. Please consider donating beyond the fee request amount. Any such donations over $25 will be acknowledged with an income tax charitable deduction receipt.

TIRRA is involved in ongoing public issues such as highways, ferries, community planning, administration of St. Margaret's Cemetery and the oversight of the solid waste system which is supported significantly by dedicated volunteers.

The two Associations join together to collect annual membership fees. Your support is appreciated.
