Coming to a Community Hall Near You ~

Community Dinners on a few Saturday nights through the fall, winter and early spring.

Several familiar cooks got together to come up with several evenings of good food for our friends and neighbours.  Often groups organize events and then cooks are found.  We felt that having the cooks initiate some dinners would elevate the dining experience.   Each dinner will have a menu planned, executed & served to create a dining out experience at Forbes Hall.  A portion of every ticket sold will go to TICA.

As we get nearer to the first dinner on October 24th, reservation information, including menu details will be posted.

Looking forward to cooking some awesome meals!

Ann Dickie, Don Sinclair, Kathleen Thompson, Nettie Hayter, Virginia Lamb, Gloria Taylor.

The Romany Trail ~ a Documentary, Sept. 21

The Thetis Island Dancing Divas and Gypsy Dancers of the Salish Sea invite you to a "Movie Night" at the Community Hall.

Come join us on Monday, Sept 21 from 7:30 - 9:30 for a movie about the Romany people (aka Gypsies). "The Romany Trail" is a documentary of the gypsy migration out of India through Egypt, Spain, and Eastern Europe. You will have a glimpse of how they live, their music, entertainment, and of course, dancing!

Everyone welcome.

Air Quality Forum ~ Oct. 6th Duncan

This issue may have future ramifications on outdoor burning and wood stove heating across the greater Cowichan Valley Regional District.

Jeannine Caldbeck

The BC Lung Association and regional partners will be holding a public air quality forum on October 6th,  6:30 – 8:30 pm at the Riverwalk Café in the Quw’utsun’ Cultural and Conference Center, 200 Cowichan Way, Duncan, BC.  The forum is an opportunity for community members to ask experts in the field of Air Quality, Dr. Michael Brauer and Dr. Sarah Henderson, some questions regarding air quality in the region. This year’s public forum will start off with a discussion on pollutants, their health effects, and airshed management.  The audience is highly encouraged to ask the speakers about other air quality topics.   The air quality public forum aims to discuss air quality concerns by identifying ways in which the public and other stakeholders can move forward in improving air quality and reducing health risks.  For further information, please see the attached flyer.
