BC FERRIES ELIMINATES FUEL SURCHARGE BEFORE THE HOLIDAYS
VICTORIA – BC Ferries’ President and CEO Mike Corrigan announced today that the 3.4 per cent fuel surcharge will be removed as of Wednesday, December 17, 2014.
"With the current favourable market conditions, we have been hedging our diesel fuel costs and are now in a position to eliminate the fuel surcharge, which is great news for holiday travellers," said Mike Corrigan, BC Ferries’ President and CEO. "We know that fare affordability is an issue for our customers and we are pleased to be able to reduce the cost of ferry travel, as every bit helps."
BC Ferries still has an outstanding balance in its fuel deferral account, but the remainder continues to drop and forecasts indicate that the balance will be reduced to zero in the first half of 2015.
Under contract to the Province of British Columbia, BC Ferries is the service provider responsible for the delivery of safe, efficient and dependable ferry service along coastal British Columbia.

Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 7:18AM There will be a Library Committee meeting on Friday Dec. 19 at 11:00 in the library. If you cannot attend please let me know as I am updating the member list.
Carole Sowerby's fabulous display of photographs has been replaced by a sampling of Mary Forbes' watercolours and needle felting. Impressive indeed!
Check out the library.

Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 7:16AM The printed eSPOKES is a service provided by the Thetis Island Community Fund. It makes available a printed version of the digital eSPOKES for seniors who don’t have computers. It is finalized each Sunday evening so that it can go to the post office drop box on Monday mornings. Items that come in late and are out of date for the next printed eSPOKES are dropped from the next issue as they are no longer relevant. Please make sure you have your eSPOKES items in before Saturday so that printed eSPOKES subscribers are kept in the loop. Also, if you know of a Thetis Island senior who isn’t taking advantage of this service, please let me know and I’ll make sure they get on the list.

Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:04PM Hello Thetis Islanders,
The post office is in full swing for the busy holiday season! A lot of parcels are coming in and going out and I thought it may be helpful to share some information.
1. Please check your post boxes often, especially at this time of year. After a recent visit from Canada Post’s area supervisor, I was directed to send mail back to the sender once a mail box gets full. I really don’t want to do this to anyone’s mail so I encourage all of you to check your boxes frequently and to get someone to pick up your mail for you if you are going away on holidays. Another option is the Hold Mail service the post office provides but there is a charge to that.
2. I am leaving the post office in the capable hands of Connie Schermerhorn for the last three days before Christmas. To make the transition a bit easier, I ask that you please get your parcels off before then as she will be super busy sorting the incoming mail.
The post office will be closed at 4pm on Wednesday, December 24th and will re-open December 29.
Happy holidays to everyone, if I don't see you this week, I will see you next year.

Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:04PM This is the time of year when we all get lovely Christmas cards in the mail and to me that means a plethora of cancelled stamps available to donate toward cancer dressing supplies. You needn’t cut out the stamps carefully – make sure there is a healthy bit of envelope still around the stamp so that they do not become damaged and leave them for me. The News Leader was thrilled with the last delivery.
Thank you,
Cecilia
Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:02PM A big thank you to my exercise group for your kindness.
You are a delightful group of people.
Rest up on the holidays and we will see you on January 5th.

Monday, December 15, 2014 at 11:01PM This week we will have yoga on both days, Tues and Thur, and after class on Thursday (Dec. 18th) we will have tea and goodies – so if you have been wanting to reconnect with yourself or others that you have met through our time together (even if you have not come for a looonnng time), please come out, share some fun and enjoy a snack with friends.
For the following week Dec. 23 & 25, yoga is cancelled. However, I will teach a class on the Tues, Dec. 30th for whomever desires to come out, and then no yoga January 1st. However, we will begin again the following week. I am thinking of making one class a more beginner class, and one more advanced and I would love some feedback about this. As soon as I find a space in Chemainus to teach yoga I will be offering a chakra yoga series, and I would really love to do yoga for addictions. Just some of my ideas – what would you like to do?
Time to think about what you would like to differently in 2015. What I know for sure, is that without your health, wealth and time mean very little. So what are you going to do differently?
I have put together several workshops for the month of January to discuss a variety of ways to clean the filters of your body (liver, kidneys, lungs, colon and just junk in your trunk.) I have been studying alternative methods of restoring health in the physical, emotional and spiritual bodies for over 20 years now, and I have learned how to incorporate these into my day-to-day life, and I am excited to share some of what I have learned with people who are open to change.
I have two healing spaces now, one in Chemainus at the Lorein Centre (9738 Victoria Rd, Door #2, Chemainus, BC) and here on the island. I will be offering the workshops on the big island; however, if there is enough interest I would offer them over here also. Email me dawn_gordon@telus.net or call 250-210-0826 to book an appt or get more information on the coming workshops.
I will be posting more information as soon as I have solidified locations to present these workshops.
Have a great holiday, and enjoy the last week of darkness. One more week and every day gets a little brighter. Yippeee!!
Wishing you peace in yourself, peace in your family and peace in the world.
Nameste,
Dawn Gordon, CHHP, RYT
PS. I still have gift certificates available, and the special of the month is buy one, get the other at ½ price. So you can get two 90-minute Serenity Bliss massages for $150. Best deal ever, just ask anyone who has been soothed by my warm oils, therapeutic touch and hot stones!!

Sunday, December 14, 2014 at 7:35AM For months Henny Mook has been making and selling beautiful cards as a fundraiser for the library. Using those funds, I have purchased a special book, Great Bear Rain by Ian McAllister. Thank you Henny!
Another thank you to the Thetis Island Community Fund for a generous donation to the children's section of the library. There are ten new books ready for borrowing. I have put them on the coffee table. More purchases to come.
There are books and cds for sale in the library at $1 each. They are on a table as you enter the library. The money goes into the basket.
Thank you for supporting your local library.
Library hours Saturday 10-1 Sunday 1-4.
