Ride Wanted to Departure Bay

I am heading to Vancouver the morning of Monday, December 28th and am wondering if anyone may be heading to Departure Bay who can offer me a ride, hopefully heading off Thetis on the 8:05 AM ferry.

Happy to share costs and buy you a coffee/tea and muffin at the Book Nook on our way.

Syrian Sponsorship Update ~

$10,000 might have seemed have like a lofty goal, but our Thetis Community (both on Thetis now and those presently off island) are quite an amazing group of people. To date, $10,310 has been raised to sponsor the Kaiyali Family to come to Canada.

The minimum required funds, sponsorship paperwork, and documentation for the family is now ready to send off to Immigration Canada. Then we wait while it gets processed both in Canada and Lebanon. Given the current political climate, we hope the family will arrive by the end of February. I will keep you up to date on the progress. 

If you would like to give a donation, they are still being gratefully accepted. Cash, cheque or credit cards all work either via me or directly to the Cowichan Intercultural Society (CIS). Credit cards can be phoned in to CIS (less of a service charge than donating online). A tax receipt will be issued for donations over $25. More information can be found here.

December 28th - 6:45 Sailing from Chemainus

January 1st - 10:45 Sailing from Thetis Island

Approximately 35 walk on passengers and 2-3 vehicles.

Bosch Dishwasher Recall Work ~ Share Workman?

Anyone who has received a Recall Notice from Bosch concerning the power cord on their dishwasher being a potential fire hazard and having no luck getting Bosch to have yours repaired should contact Sam Anderson Appliance Repair on Salt Spring at 1-250-537-5267. They have been authorized from Bosch to repair the dishwasher.

The dishwashers Bosch and Kenmore Elite are models from January 2008 to December 2013. If you have not received a notice and have the make and models mentioned or are unsure if you have the above models you can contact Bosch at 1-888-965-5813.

So far we are the only people the repair folks need to come for so it would make it worth their time and costs to have everyone contact them and then they will set up a day to travel to Thetis.
