Sunday, April 26, 2015 at 11:00AM On a few occasions we have received supposed “International Calls” .
However, on our Call Display these “International Calls” appear as local Phone numbers; I.E., 250-246-XXXX, or Area Code 905 (Ontario) 905-XXX-XXXX.
Upon investigation, we found that these numbers are non-working local phone numbers that have somehow been accessed by an “overseas” party.
No doubt, there is some SCAM connected to these calls.
We have been advised to; Not answer these calls, and to then BLOCK the number if you have that phone option. For TELUS BLOCKING, Press *98 than Press 8-6. The prompt will tell you how to BLOCK numbers.

Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at 10:59PM On Friday April 17th, four young members of our community were recipients of Leaders of Tomorrow Awards. The LoT Awards recognize "outstanding contributions to community through volunteer service".
The program was established to encourage and promote philanthropic giving and volunteerism in our children and young people. All nominees receive an award of recognition within 4 age groups at the annual awards ceremony (it is inclusive, no winners and losers).
The Thetis nominees for 2015: O'Carra Rogers, Solomon Rogers, Katia Bannister, Jacob Frankel (little Kingsley Rogers is also in the photo as an aspiring LoT for future!). Anyone can nominate and it involves filling in a form that asks what is it that makes the nominee stand out among peers in their giving and what have they participated in. "Everyone is a winner" is the idea.
Jacob volunteers with the fire department and tutors peers.
Katia transforms her passion for dance and her belief in social justice into several fundraising efforts.
Sol and O'Carra volunteer for Neighbourhood House in Chemainus every Thursday afternoon. They typically sort clothes for the Friday Free Store but occasionally help with other tasks as needed.
Sol and O'Carra are proud of the work they do and love helping other people. Both also take part in donating to local food banks, cleaning garbage from public spaces and helping with annual shoreline and river clean ups.
One nominee from each age group is drawn in a random draw and given a cheque for $100 o donate to a local charity of their choice. Katia Bannister was drawn and she chose to give to the Burchell Aquisition project of ThINC so Vicki Walker attended to accept the cheque on behalf of ThINC.
