Saturday, October 18, 2014 at 12:36PM My mother Teddy Suiker (Doctor Suiker, or Mrs Gooding) has suddenly taken ill and has moved to a care facility on Vancouver Island to be close to doctor and hospital while she takes medical treatment.
I know she has many friends on Thetis Island that would like to visit her, but she is too ill to take visitors right now. Please be patient and I will keep you updated as much as possible on eSpokes.
Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Thanks.

Friday, October 17, 2014 at 4:56PM We have started a listing of Dogs & Cats along with their owner's names, contact info, pictures of the pets. This listing will give all of us a "go to" page if a pet is found or, lost, we can refer people to this page for full information. This has been done in other communities with success. Any pets listed can be removed at anytime. Click here to go to the page to see what's needed to get your pet included in the Who's Who of Thetis Pets.
Thursday, October 16, 2014 at 8:16PM The Annual Flu Shot Clinic on Thetis Island is taking place on November 5th from 9:30 to 10:30 at Forbes Hall. Also available this year will be the pneumococcal inoculation which is given only once.
"The pneumococcus is a germ (a bacteria, not a virus) that can cause bacterial pneumonia and other infections such as in the bloodstream (bacteremia) and lining of the brain (meningitis). It is especially good at causing pneumonia as a complication of influenza infection. So you can understand why it is so important to be vaccinated to get protection against both influenza and the pneumococcus.
Both vaccines are very safe. - Click here to view more.

Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at 10:44AM This Thursday, October 16th, at 10:16 in the morning, is the Great B.C. Shake Out earthquake drill. Local radio stations will pause to remind listeners about the drill and perhaps broadcast the rumbling sounds of a major quake for realism. This will be your cue to practice what you will do when the real quake happens. Please go to Shakeoutbc.ca for resources and tips on how to prepare. And at 10:16 Thursday morning, practice what you would do during and immediately after a major quake. Being prepared WILL make a difference.
