Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 9:34AM Thetis Island Nature Conservancy (ThINC) would like to thank all those who came out for a dance and good time on Halloween night.
We had flora: flowers, mushrooms, lichen, and a cedar tree.
We had fauna: little brown bat, a family of ladybugs and a kitty cat.
We had ghouls: Darth Vader and a skeleton. We had sprites: a lovely woodland witch.
There was even a rock (obsidian)! A 50’s gal and more!
We appreciate all of your support for the conservancy and look forward to upcoming workshops with the community in the next year.

Friday, November 6, 2015 at 9:12PM Hello Neighbours,
Are you looking for a convenient way to buy locally produced foods, especially during this time when our own hard working farmers Noah and Elizabeth are taking a well-deserved break from full production? Check out the Cow-op, a new online market place in the Cowichan Valley! Here is a link to a recent Shaw TV promotion, and the Cow-Op website:
What's even better is that the orders get picked up on Thursday in the very same building where I work in Duncan. So perhaps we could work out a co-operative pick up arrangement....
They are also just about to launch a mobile app, a very user friendly way to shop local wherever you are and whenever it suits you!
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch with me at 250-246-5269 or at stephanie.cottell@gmail.com.
Cheers,
Steph

Friday, November 6, 2015 at 9:11PM Hey kids. Did you know that if you are age 10 or older you can bring your mom to the Christmas Card Gathering at Forbes Hall on November 14 from 1-4 pm for FREE? That’s right, you and your mom can work together making awesome cards for relatives and friends. That’s right, two for the price of one and the joy of creating with your family…priceless.
No kids, no problem, you’re just as welcome, and there are only a few spaces left for this fun event!
Spend an afternoon creating a dozen elegant handmade cards…four each of three unique designs. Tea, treats, door prizes, and music accompany the card making. No experience is necessary as everything will be precut for you and all materials supplied in your kit. You only need to bring a pair of scissors and a tape runner. Open to everyone…no registration fee.
Materials kit $40 payable to the instructor.
Contact Carol Swann 250 246 3699 or seaspray@telus.net to save a spot.

Friday, November 6, 2015 at 9:07PM Kudos to the TIVFD Auxiliary for the great coffee service spread on Wednesday morning for the TIVFD Annual Flu Shot Clinic. And "Thank You" to all whom attended and waited patiently for the late ferry to arrive so the vaccinations could begin!
The winner of the double smoke alarm door prize drawn after the Flu Shot Clinic is John Gordon.
The TIVFD reminds you that if you sleep with your door closed you should have a working smoke alarm in your bedroom. If the door is normally open, have one in the hallway just outside.
