Thank You from Richard Jerman

Richard Jerman of Penelakut Island wishes to send a heartfelt "Thank You" to all on Thetis Island, and within the reach of e-spokes, who sent letters of support for him to be able to stay in Canada.

He has been overwhelmed by the wonderful response.

Back-Hauling Materials For Re-Cycling - expressions of interest invited

Residents have provided suggestions about possible efficiencies in future recycling operations.

One idea is to see whether empty pick-up trucks heading to the main island could be used to haul certain materials to recycling depots ("back-hauling") on a voluntary basis.

Our committee wants to hear from potential volunteers interested in back-hauling the occasional pick-up load to Bings Creek and to Schnitzer (scrap metal) in Duncan and Cassidy A vehicle/driver ferry ticket may be given to such volunteers as an honorarium for time and effort.

Linkedin Virus

We’ve recently received 3 invitations from Thetis Islanders to connect with them on Linkedin which is a professional social network.  We ignored the invitations because we aren’t interested in joining Linkedin.  It turns out, however, that these may be bogus invitations.

A Linkedin virus is making the rounds and it was mentioned in Tuesday’s Times-Colonist.  The request looks legitimate and includes Linkedin’s logo.  Please don’t be fooled, though.  In this day and age of more and more sophisticated computer viruses, be very careful of what you might trust.  If you have any doubts about legitimacy, talk to the sender to see if the email is real.

BC Ferries Refinement Options

Click here to view schedule refinement options developed by BC Ferries for our route.

These will also be available on the BC Ferries website on Wednesday February 12th. On their website they will have an online survey that will be used to gauge public preference to the options. Additionally they will be doing a phone survey for the same purpose.

How much latitude ferries has on these schedules will be determined over the next couple of weeks.

Any comments please pass them on to any of our FAC members (Sue French, Steve Frankel or Arthur Hunter).

Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to the "Building Bridges: Understanding the Village" workshop at Forbes Hall on Feb 6th. The event was a huge success with over 30 community members participating, ranging from youngsters to elders and many in-betweeners.
