Recycle Yard looking for Volunteers ~

If you can spare (only) one or two hours a month volunteering for small, but much needed tasks at our Recycle Yard the staff and our community would be very grateful.   There is a sign up sheet on the back wall behind the Recycle table, better yet, please see Stephanie Cottell or Vicki Walker on either Saturdays or Wednesdays from 9AM –Noon.

Some of the tasks needing attention can be anytime during the week.

The continued success and sustainable of this essential community service depends a large part on volunteers.  Obviously, volunteers also help keeping our costs manageable.

Thank you for your continued support,

Thetis Island Sanitation/Solid Waste Committee (TISSWC)

FAC Update ~ Letter to Deputy Minister

Please find attached a letter sent yesterday to Kevin Richter ADM of MoTI, with whom we met with last week along with Judy Kirk of Kirk and Co. Consulting.  As you will be able to gather from the tone and content of the letter, we (FACC) are not happy with many aspects of the proposed community consultation, and want to ensure that this has been clearly communicated.  Please take the time to read the letter as it contains a lot of background information and detail that will serve us well during the upcoming meetings with government.

Girl Guide Cookies for Sale

The Chemainus Fire Chief, Neil Rukus, has a Girl Guide daughter selling GG Cookies (chocolate covered mint biscuits) for $5.00 per box.  I am going over to a meeting at the Chemainus Fire Hall on Thursday evening and if you would like to purchase a box or two to support the Girl Guides of Canada, please let me know.  I can collect your money beforehand at “Soup's On” this Wednesday or you can call me and I will cover the cost and deliver and collect from you at the following “Soup's On” on Oct. 31st.  Please email me at chief11@telus.net with cookies in the subject line.  (I find them very addictive!)
