Canada Post Update

This is the latest information I have on how we will be moving forward.

- the backlog will be handled by first in first out.
- the backlog will not be cleared until sometime in the middle of January.
- there are no delivery guarantees until the backlog is cleared.
- priority and expedited post will not be moving until the backlog is cleared.
- we will be taking delivery of the mail from Canada Post about 1:00 PM tomorrow and will have extra staff on to sort it as quickly as possible. Please give us time to make that happen.
- everything from Wednesday should be in your boxes by 10:00 AM Thursday. And we will be on our regular hours (below) from that point on.
- mail will not be going out until Thursday at 11:00 AM.
- we will have extra staff through Friday until we get caught up.

Mail delivery should start Wednesday Dec 18. We will be open for regular hours starting Wednesday.

Hours of Operation
· Monday to Saturday
· 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed from 12:00 to 12:30 for lunch)
· Closed holidays

Services
All regular postal services except bill payments and any type of money transfer. We do not have the resources to offer this service.

Red Drop Box and Post Office Boxes
· Mail is sorted into the Post Office boxes between 9:00 and 10:00 AM each morning.

· If you want your mail to go out on a given day, have it in the red box before 9:00 AM or bring it to the Post Office before 11:00 AM

· EXCEPTION: Mail is picked up at 9:00 AM on Friday therefore if you wish your mail to go out Friday, then you need to get it into the Post Office (NOT the red box) before 5:00 PM Thursday.

Mail and Parcels

· According to regulations, we are only supposed to keep mail and parcels for 2 weeks and then we are to send it back.
Obviously we have not been doing that. If you are going to be away longer than 2 weeks please let us know length of time so we can hold your mail. Depending on the length of time, there could be a fee charged for parcels.

· Please bring parcel tags to facilitate retrieving your parcels.

Theoretically, there should be no more strike action until May 23, 2025, the end of the current Labour Board contract. I will keep you informed if anything changes.

Dancing Dragonfly Soapworks

If you missed me at the Christmas Market or just need a last-minute gift I am restocked at Thetis Island Marina for soaps, fun fashion earrings and my new hand felted starfish scent-makers. These feature wool, grown on Thetis Island and hand dyed and felted by Lis Kroeker (pink scooter) accompanied by essential oils to scent your room or car and calm or energize you, depending on scent.

Thank you for sharing in community contributions to the “Bazaar”. (Small, gently used items the children can select for their loved ones for less than a dollar or two) that a child may experience joy and pride in the spirit of giving.

Post Office ... Canada Post still on strike

The Government has not made a decision on getting Canada Post to settle. The earliest, if the Labour Board approves, will be sometime next week.

The PO is still closed until the strike is resolved one way or another.

I will keep you posted (couldn't resist)... 😉
